Call it what you want, covering a code-4 pattern is not playing box, it's covering for a straight.
Example code-4, 1112 1121 1211 2111 and 1112 showed this morning as rogue 32013 and
is defined as 1-zero, 1-one, 1-two and 2-threes, digit set = 903.
1211 = 60 sets 0-straights 0-box
1121 = 60 sets 0 straights 0 box
1112 = 60 sets 1 straight 0 box
2111 = 60 sets 0 straights 1 box
Explain to me how this could be a forethought, almost any other filter set to the correct value
would of most likely removed the box hit, why, because the filter value that is the correct choice
would have been based on the rogue 32013 or the set 903. So to me this is adding 180 more
lines to gain one box hit that would most likely be removed filtering down to a playable amount.
While 2111 produced a box hit it was not the correct code-4 pattern, the box hit was a accident
that would require making more mistakes in the other reduction / filtering tools to not filter it out.
The code-4 program breaks down possible rogue digit combinations into unique arrangements
as a filtering method. Wheeling rogue digit pairs, trays etc.. is covering not boxing, all box hits
generated by Ultra-34 are accidental. The entire program is built for straight hits. There is nothing
wrong with playing this way to increase the chances of generating a straight but most times any
benefit will be lost in the number of filters you will need to range to reach a play budget. I suggest
that you focus on setting 3 or 4 rogues to single values for 4 or 16 lines. If that's not working out
then go to using 2 values in each of the rogue cells for 64 lines. Expanding the field always increases
the number of lines generated which increases the number of filters needed to reduce. Fewer choices
always translates to fewer mistakes. Tackle the hard stuff and try to build your skills and avoid the
other stuff as much as possible. I would rather miss on a 3 digit rogue setup than spend half the day
trying to reduce 250 to a playable amount and box hits are not worth my time. I would rather work
at Micky-D's, at least I would get paid for my time.
