Kimberly Blatchford of Winfield, Kansas, recently claimed a $192,769 Super Kansas Cash jackpot from the Nov. 3, 2004 drawing. Blatchford and her fiancé, Todd Cirks, delivered the winning ticket to Lottery Headquarters on Tuesday.
"We buy tickets for the Powerball and Super Kansas Cash games on a regular basis," said Todd Cirks. "I had 15 to 20 tickets stuffed behind the sun visor in my truck. Last week I cleaned out the truck to take it in for some work, and just tossed my tickets on the desk in my office. My fiancé was helping me with some bookkeeping and she decided to check the tickets."
The excitement continued after Blatchford checked the tickets last Thursday at a downtown Winfield convenience store. "I did scream at the store," said Blatchford. "Todd was deer hunting, so I had to track him down through the landowner of where he was hunting. I told the property owner that it was an emergency, so he went out to find Todd."
Kimberly Blatchford works for Todd Cirks, who owns the Western Sizzlin Restaurant in Winfield. Between them, the couple has six children, ranging in ages six through 18. According to Blatchford and Cirks, the jackpot money will certainly enable them to set a wedding date and combine their households.
"I was in a tree stand waiting to get my deer for the season," said Cirks. "The landowner comes out and finds me and says theres an emergency and I need to call Kim. Naturally, I think something is wrong with the kids. I had my cell phone and called her; the connection was not great. I thought she said we won $192 and thought that was not an emergency. The phone went dead, and she called me back and said 'we won $192,769, not $192!' "
The excited couple had good advice for all Lottery players. "Play regularly but only spend what you can afford," said Cirks. "And, always check your tickets!"
The winning ticket was purchased at Pump n Petes, 2126 Main St. in Winfield. The retailer will receive $1,000 for selling the ticket.
Two Super Kansas Cash jackpots remain unclaimed: a $437,525 jackpot from the Oct. 18, 2004 drawing (ticket was purchased in southeast Kansas); and a $258,205 jackpot from the Nov. 24, 2004 drawing (ticket was sold in southwest Kansas).
A $100,000 Powerball ticket sold in northeast Kansas for the Nov. 10, 2004 drawing is also unclaimed.

I hear you man. I just can't comprehend anyone doing that. At the store where I buy my lottery ticket, I sometimes pick up the discarded "losing" scratch games left behind by customers. I'm hoping one of em will be misread and be a CHA-CHING $$$ WINNER lol

I hear you man. I just can't comprehend anyone doing that. At the store where I buy my lottery ticket, I sometimes pick up the discarded "losing" scratch games left behind by customers. I'm hoping one of em will be misread and be a CHA-CHING $$$ WINNER lol
