  I was thinking the other day. Would'nt be nice if the lottery offered the players the chance to purchase a quick pick ticket with all 42 red powerballs. I call it "The 42 red Powerball quick pick option."

  For forty-two dollars you'd receive a ticket with each of the red Powerball numbers along with five random quick pick white ball numbers.

  Is forty-two dollars too much money? No problem, we have two other options. For twenty-one dollars you get the option to play all odd numbers or all even number red Powerballs.

  Some may argue that by giving the players these new options there won't be as many rollovers and large jackpots. I disagree. I feel its time for the lottery to give the Powerball players more QP options.

  sorry, but $42 is a little much for me to spend on a single drawing.  maybe if it is $300 million, but i'd rather take 5 instead.  you would be guarenteed to get $3 back, but that may be all you get.  also, if you get 5, it is possible (somewhat likely) for you to have a repeat powerball number, and what if that number were to hit?  it seems like your idea is to turn powerball into roulette.

  I think that is a great idea. Sure if may be too much money for some people but others may be OK with spending that much. It certainly works for groups and office pools.

  It could be advertised as follows.

  The odd-21 for $21 and the even-21 for $21. If you want all the powerballs covered you ask for both; that is, buy an odd-21 and an even-21.

  Better still, the lottery company should offer each of the options for an even $20. A volume discount.

  Lottey companies do not do enough to reward office pools. Office pools do a lot of the work of rounding up new players and spend money that in many cases would not have been spent on lotteries.

  I have bought Mega Millions tickets for groups in the past and I have tried two different approaches.

  One approach is to buy all the Mega balls. One time I collected $100 for the office pool and bought 104 tickets because I was guarenteed to win at least $4. This way one gets to buy more tickets especially for very large jackpots rather than spend the $4 in the following draw for a small jackpot. The size of the jackpot matters when dealing with office pools. The jackpot was so large at the time that I expected it to be won.

  Another time I took a different approach. The pool had only $30 to spend so we bought all the tickets with the same Mega ball. The strategy was to try to win nothing or more than we spent. Winning $2 for a group was not worth the effort of either splitting the money or buying more tickets for the next draw.

  that's $84 if you "power it up"... too much money for QPs... if they let you either play your own white balls (like you can now by filling out that many cards _OR_ let you "super play" one lucky set of white balls...

  ticket could look like

  01-02-03-04-05  POWERBALL 01-42

   

  I like the idea of individual QP PB# on each ticket!

  My original intent was for each red Powerball you would get five different random quick pick white ball numbers for each game.

  Some of you are looking at it as the same five white ball numbers with all the red Powerballs , which is fine.

  if you got the same set of white balls, think about what would happen if you hit the jackpot.

  i think the lotteries would never go for it because then if one of the tickets hits the jackpot, and it kept the same set of white balls, then the $100,000 prize might have to be pari-mutuel because you would hold 41 2nd prize winners.  the lotteries would really hate having to pay you an additional $4.1 million.  once someone wins that jackpot using that method, then the lotteries are going to start hating the idea.  if you made it different sets of white balls, then that is a little better because you actually have a better chance of hitting the jackpot.

  My response may have been misinterpreted. When we played all the Mega balls, we did quick picks on the white balls. I would never suggest repeating the same set of white balls. Playing duplicate tickets reducing your odds of winning.

  That was my intention when I posted this thread. For some reason DoctorEw220 just does'nt get it. Each red Powerball would be matched up with five different quick pick white ball numbers.

    There's already a way you can do this.  At least in Iowa, if you use a play slip, you can just grab nine play slips (each play slip has five panels), mark the different powerball number for each of the 42 games, and choose "easy pick" for all the white balls.

  I think the Lottery Commission would go for it.  So many people are looking for ways to better their odds with the Powerball.  I'm sure there would be lots of people that would spend the extra money and that's all the Lottery Commission cares to do - to find a way to make people spend more money. MONEY - it's the name of the game.

  That's news to me! I know they sometimes  come out and print new slips. Do I have the old slips? Is this option explained on the back of the playslip, under "How To Play?"
