If a person thinks 1 number is going to come up for sure in the pick 4 lotto....and they want to wheel every possible combination to win it BOXED (not straight, just boxed)......how many combinations would they have to play?
If I understand you correctly and this is for the daily Pick-4 game then you are asking the same question twice but in a different way. Let me explain, first off in that game let's say a four digit number with no dups, 1-2-3-4 has twenty-four possible combinations:
1234-1243-1324-1342-1423-1432
2134-2143-2314-2341-2413-2431
3124-3142-3214-3241-3412-3421
4123-4132-4213-4231-4312-4321
If you were to place a bet on say 3-2-1-4 fifty cents str and fifty cents box you would hit it straight on the 3-2-1-4 and box since a box bet is like putting TWO cents on ALL of the combinations, with 5000 to 1 odds you would win $100.00 on the box bet and $2500.00 on the straight bet, providing your state does not pay out on a para mutual basis. If let's say the winning number fell as 3-2-4-1 then you would only have a box winning bet. Should you want to cover ALL the combinations as a straight bet it would cost $12.00 (at fifty cents) and $24.00 (at $1.00) to guarantee a straight hit off that number.
Hope that helps.
