"SECRET", first of all, don't ever say again : "i probably won't". you never know. think a little more positive. thinking positive isn't a guarantee on anything in life, but it gets you in a place of possibilities. it just means that your eyes are open to more things and if something comes your way, you will be ready. when oppurtunity knocks, the negative person will dismiss it away and mis the what "if's". thinking positive breeds preparation. sermon over (lol). i know without a doubt i could handle a "the rock" like mega-millions 500+jackpot (lol). i have prepared. if you can, get ahold of the book "infinite financial freedom" by rob sanford. it's subtitle is "what to do before and after you win the lottery". the best "preparation" book out there. it tells a winner EVERYTHING that they need to know after they win. gives good advice on how to manage your financial life even if you do not win. you can pick it up at your local library. also you can do a search on either rob sanford on ask jeeves or a search - "infinite financial freedom". there is excerpts from his book on the web and a "link" to his website. he is a financial advisor who has advised many lottery winners. . he is one i would trust to help me handle MY money till i learn to handle it myself. if you do not have a financial advisor in mind that you can trust (trust at this stage is paramount), you can "shop" around via trusted friends and or relatives. get a recommendation only from someone that you absolutely trust and that has a LONG TERM relationship/track record with the person that they are recommending to you. control is what you are after. you want the LEAST amount of "fingers" fondling YOUR money. the idea is to get yourself in a position as fast as you can that you are the one handling your money, not someone else. money has a way (especially in big "chunks") of changing people, even the people you trust the most. when you gain control, you call the shots. let's say hypothetically you win and you are unsure what financial advisor you want to go with, TAKE YOUR TIME !! there is no rush. park the ticket in a bank security lock box and TELL NO ONE. since trust is your most treasured commodity at this fork in the road, you can take your time till you find the right person the first time. that first step of finding the right person to represent you is the single most important step you will take on your new journey. this is where people fail. make sure you have the right people in place before you collect, no matter how long that takes. those people who appeared on television are out of their mind. they don't realize by doing that just how much garbage and "onslaught" they have opened themselves up to. you say nothing and fly low under the radar. people will find out soon enough that you have money and will set out on a mission to try and get their hands on it. you open the "floodgates" when you tell the "masses". if the lottery in the state in which you reside requires a media conference to announce your win, send your advisors to do it. you can watch your cardboard check being presented to your attorney on tv from the comfort of your lazy boy. you do not want anymore people to know what you have won THEN YOU HAVE TO. they will know soon enough when they see you driving your new hummer, when you used to drive an amc pacer (wayne's world-lol). although when i daydream (lol), i have toyed with the idea of going on larry king live dressed as "fat elvis". they could get thier interview and i could retain my annonymity. might have to use a different disguise as "fat elvis" would not fully cover my face, only my eyes (huge 70's sunglasses) and the big bushy sideburns (lol). put 100k in a couple different banks and bury the rest in your back yard of your newly bought 80 acre estate (lol). you know something, i forgot my PARAGRAPHS (lol). sorry :(
