Tell me about it! In a very small nutshell, that is The Lesson of all the threads I'm running. This is why I have adopted the strategy of waiting until a particular workup throws a hit in a particular lottery (Mississippi, for example) and then watching to see if the same workup will throw another hit in the same lottery. I call these grouping of workup hits, "Clusters," and pretty much all I do any more is look for workups that tend to cluster.
I know the Followers don't cluster. I haven't found any lottery where they do. Same deal with the Sync hits, which are very hard work to track. In the To Live and Die in Mississippi thread I am experimenting with whether the Irrationals Leader/Follower hits cluster with any regularity. I've tried many others, too.
I've even tried the opposite strategy, tracking extremely cold straights and combos in the All-States Trip 777 - 63 Days Out thread, where we just sort of accidentally fell into tracking the coldest straights and combos. Boy are those regular! That turns out to be an excellent way to produce a list of numbers which you should not play in any state. If I could produce a list of, say, 980 numbers not to play in any given lottery on any given day, then I'd really have something. Ha!
At the end of the day, the Date workup is the only workup that seems to cluster with any regularity. I've hit 22 of those (straight) since last July 4th. That's about 2 (straight) hits per month in all the 2-draw-a-day lotteries. That's not terrific. It's hell of better than others, but it's not terrific. And, again, that's covering all the 2-draw-a-day lotteries, so I'm tracking a lot of workups. Virginia and Michigan have been the two Date workups that have given me the most grief in the past couple years. They both have run very hot for a short while then very cold for a very long while, but there are plenty of other examples, too, California, New York, Missouri, and so on where the Date workup ran hot then went ice cold and did not come back.
Fickle...
