USA Mega now has the most accurate jackpot tracking you can findPrev TopicNext Topic

This probably doesn't warrant a news story to announce it, but it's a pretty big deal for people who track Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots.
Today a new feature went online at USA Mega that provides the most accurate jackpot tracking that you'll find on the Internet. Even the official Powerball and Mega Millions websites don't provide it.
You might have noticed, particularly with Powerball, that during the live drawing shown on television they announce the final jackpot tally, which often differs from the estimated jackpot that was announced earlier in the week. That's because by draw time they have totalled up all the actual sales and can calculate a final jackpot amount. They do lottery players a solid by announcing what that final amount is.
Now, after every drawing, USA Mega updates the jackpot amount shown on the website to be that final amount shown on TV. But the best part is that USA Mega also keeps the initial estimate, and shows BOTH amounts on the drawing information page, like this:
For the Powerball game, the amounts get updated after every drawing — and the USA Mega website has been updated with the actual and initial estimates for every single drawing from the start of the game (Apr. 22, 1992) through the present.
For Mega Millions, it's not quite as comprehensive because the lotteries do not publish the actuals like they do for Powerball. So the only way to collect the actual vs. original estimate is whenever the jackpot is won. The lotteries tend to announce the final jackpot tally the next day after it was won, and at that point the USA Mega website gets updated with the final amount for that particular drawing. The drawings that do not produce a jackpot winner are generally not updated with final jackpot tallies, because they are not made available.
Regarding the jackpots shown on Lottery Post, I started the same process of updating the Powerball jackpots after every drawing, so they will match the actual jackpots instead of the estimates. At some point I will probably do an update of the entire Powerball drawing history and update the jackpots with the actuals. Typically I have only done this for the jackpot after it has been won, but I think it probably makes sense to make it as accurate as possible for all the other drawings too. What do you think?

OfflineThose who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any. So many systems, so many theories, so few jackpot winners.
There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.
