First Applying a System to the Draw History Means that the System is Automated. If Filters are applied they must be done by formula not input. Systems requiring Manual Selection of any kind are the First Step toward Automation and can be "Practiced" on Past Games but I don't call that a Back Test nor do I call that a System. It is a Tool that you Practice" with on Old Games. Either by Practice with Repeated Runs for Fixed Setting on the Tool, you can find if a Setting or Code was a winner and when it Occurred. Rather than Fixed Settings you can set Filters to change by a formula based on counts. Next you Set the Tool to Apply to the Draw History but you Let it Run Automatically and Log the Results.
The Results of the Automated Back Test are no Guarantee, but one thing is for sure, You have to be willing to turn the Tool toward the future and leave it on Automatic to keep any possible thread of a Trend Going. Change any of the Filters manually and any possible thread begins to unwind.
When I hear the word wheel, it means in general the process of assembling valid combinations for a Game from a Selected Group of Numbers. Therefore a Wheel is another Tool, it is not a System. A Wheel becomes part of a System when it is Fed an arranged pool of numbers that are then combined into all possible combinations based on parameters that are set on the Wheel.
Now you combine the Filter on Automatic with the Wheel set to parameters point it at the next draw and spit out a set of combinations. You can Run the Tool against a Random Drawing Generator to see if this System can hit the Big one and along the way count how many times the system calculated to get that Big Hit. Been Doing a bit of this on Fantasy 5 and just starting to learn or think I might be learning something by watching.
Using Excels Randbeween function against RNG looks cool, but it might be proportional to a BB Gun vs a 50 cal. Fired by the Lottery. Randbetween might have a slight improvement in the disadvantage against a Ball Machine but I have never found a significant difference.
