I am not a troll, I wish I was then I would be a few grand richer and in a way better position. As of my posting of this thread, I have not played a single ticket. I made a few dollars at work today and went straight to my bank. Yes, you are right about never playing again. Abstinence is the only way, I just want my post to help others, not looking for attention! Thanks everyone for your responses and I hope everyone has a wonderful night as Mr. Bob Plachno says.
Your response leaves me to believe that you're either a troll seeking attention or someone who has a problem but doesn't know how to deal with it and isn't taking it very seriously.
How many times does it have to be mentioned that this is not the board for you to 'help others'. You need to help yourself first, if indeed gambling is your 'problem'.
In any case, acknowledging that you are on the wrong board if you're truly serious about seeking help would be the first step...
If you want to help yourself you'll not post another message on this board. If you do, you'd be showing your true colors.

I know I've posted a lot about my sickness. Today was by far my worst day, and I hope it can be my last day playing any type of lottery or even gambling because I am a few days away from ending up on the streets of Palm Beach, Florida. I left work, pawned my MacBook Pro for $400 and purchased a bunch of $20 Flamingo's and some new $5 ones. I lost all of my money. The worst part is when I stood in line trying to have the clerk check all of my tickets and the whole line of 20 or so people were watching me in disgust. I keep viewing the Florida Lottery's page and seeing big winners which is what causes me to buy and buy more. This post is to help steer anyone away because it's not worth it.
In the past few months that I've played, I've lost a few grand, lots of my time, my gf left me cause of all the lies on where I was or what I was doing, and my boss is very close to firing me. Wish me luck in the next life because I am about done with this one...
Cheers!
Just saw this post. I am in the same boat (and same area as you) - Palm Beach county has by far the WORST tickets in the state. Look at posters from other areas - Sarasota, Miami, Jacksonville.... they always hit $500 or better. I have blown thru soo many tickets and my best win is $4,000, and that was years ago when tickets and odds were much better. I have not been to the <snip> claim center in years.....
That being said, these dam things are near impossible to quit. I have tried and tried and failed again. Problem is they are everywhere. My cousin was able to quit cold. He had a few big wins $10K, $5K etc, then blew thru it all and some and got fed up with it. Think it takes a special mindset to stop. And I don't have it.....

I played on 12/4 and slipped up this morning, down $200, not one single winner. Now back to work for another 12 hours! Closing the bank account and putting the rest of my paycheck in silver while it's low ($14/oz).

Haha, you are caught now. Putting all your money in silver? Next you are going to be trying to sell us silver investments.

Is your gambling addiction primarily toward Scratch Offs or the regular lottery games as well: Pick 3/4/5/PB/MM ???

just call the hotline and get help
Read his last two posts and note that in the first one he claims that he hasn't purchased a single ticket up until the date of the posting (December 5).
On the most recent post he claims he last purchased tickets on December 4.
He needs to call a hotline to get help for his need of attention.

That thread was published on 12/4. Like I have mentioned before, this thread is to help new players understand how serious this issue is. I have spoken with major players on YouTube and all have agreed that my thread is not a waste of time, so please <snip> off.

I'm trying to quit too or at least cut it down to a minimal amount & stick to that budget. I'm more tempted to play If I have cash on me or I can use my debit card to make cash withdrawals. I try to only keep my credit card on me so I can't spend cash on lotto or have an easy method to withdraw cash to play. Good luck & I hope you can beat the addiction.

Day one was a success, no tickets played today. Thanks for your input, debit cards are just as bad as cash. Hopefully we can all use this thread to share some stories on how a few bucks turned into a lot of losses. Have a wonderful weekend.

Minority or not, my thinking is aligned with yours. This is not the place for all that.
I'd even go one step further say OP seems to be trolling. Next we'll hear about how he's robbing old ladies and selling his body in dark alleys just.to.get.one.more(!) scratch card.
My inexorable cynicism aside, if OP isn't full of it, do contact the Florida Council on Compulsive Gambling (888-236-4848). Those folks will be receptive and understanding. Every time the Florida Lottery makes another post to brag about a new record-breaking month of income for them, I think about how much more the phones must be ringing at the council.
I will not call the hotline, nor will I be convinced to do so. Each call is recorded, logged and saved, so like I said it's not really anonymous. This data could end up at a casino for all we know...
