You're right about a "string" definition in programming languages, but a "string" in this and many other LP topics has a completely different meaning.
A chain of consecutive hits = string.
The string can be broken and the question is at what length.
If the chain is too tick as 6-digits string (200 of total 220 combos every draw) it may take a long time before it gets broken.
Can you give example of consecutive hits to illustrate a string? . My question is , how do one generate a string from a data?

If you test all 210 combinations of 6-digits (from 012345 to 456789) for a max skip and how many times a certain skip occurred within a certain number of last draws then compare it with a current skip you could "figure out" which 6-digits string will break soon. Personally I don't do it because the chances are very little for a 6-digits to break within an expected a couple of draws range regardless what happened in the past.

Sets for breaker 1,2,3,7

Do you see where he hit 2 of the 8 states, he posted???

You may want to rethink your analysis!!!

Winsum, can you explain again why you selected 1237 to play in WV?
Here bellow are 6-dig skips (or 4-dig breaker skips) in WV with current skip bellow 10.
Your one is green. It's been under skip 10 only one time and previous consecutive skips are 16, 1, 38 etc.
Why didn't choose the yellow one 0249 currently at skip 3 and many more consecutive skips under 10?
Last draw 373 was not included in this analysis.
Skips are counted for the same period of time. That's why skip lines are not the same length.
Longer skip lines have more lower skip values so that 4 digits from those lines may hit sooner that short lines.

how bout a 1 draw state/province.
i'm in western canada.
what should i be looking for in these strings.

As a result of this thread I have been looking more closely at strings. Thanks for posting the list of all the strings so I could update my DB, Winsum!
I find the "action" is in the smaller strings of 2,3,4 digits. I am interested in strings that have been hanging around too long, but also strings that have NOT hit for a while. If you look at the string that is due to fail, the long-out numbers are interesting for use as keys in the "string breaker" list.
I thought that I had come up with something new, and then I discovered that Win D had been there before me with this post.
Shoulda known! LOL!

Tia,
Those were the days and sadly, I keep forgetting about this. Another good find.

OnlineFor Excel users of 2007 or newer versions (2010, 2013 and beyond)
Here is the download link to the zip file:https://copy.com/JbfRbYFGYYYuS67A
Create a new folder and name it "P3Strings" (without quotes of course).
If your hard drive designation is other than the letter "C" instructions further below on how to correct this.
Unzip the 9 Excel files into the folder you created above.
You can open the Excel file "StringsStep2.xlsm" for now just to see the calculations for the skips for each of the strings.
There are tabs at the bottom for each of the strings (2,3,4,5,6,7)
I will put a video together on how to update and use the other Excel files.
The draws I used were the Texas Combined draws. Last drawing was Saturday Nov 21, 2015
A little explanation of the Excel files.
Close the StringsStep2.xlsm file if open. You may need to enable macros.
The "P3StateDraws.xlsm" is used to update all the Pick 3 draws using the Lotterypost results. I usually update this Excel
file every morning. I use Mozilla Firefox to copy and paste the Pick 3 results from LP into the tab labeled LP. LP
members who have tried this said the formatting was incorrect and the data was not going into the correct cell range.
Google Chrome seems to work the best. If you open the "P3StateDraws.xlsm" file you should see a message to change the
date. Just close this window.
If I wanted to calculate any state, including Canadian pick 3 games I would 1st update the "P3StateDraws.xlsm" Excel file.
Once the drawings are updated I keep the "P3StateDraws.xlsm" file open then go to the main menu and select File > Open >
browse to the P3Strings folder and open the 2nd file "StringsStep1.xlsm".
"StringsStep1.xlsm" Click the tab labeled States. If your hard drive letter is other than the letter "C" you can click
cell B10. Click the drop-down arrow to the right of cell B10 and select the letter that corresponds to you computer. Mine
is the letter "C". Next, select the Pick 3 game draw history you want to use for the Strings calculations. Click cell B3
and to the right you should see a drop-down arrow. Click the drop-down arrow and select the Pick 3 game you want to use.
Currently it is the Texas Combined Draws (Morning, Midday, Evening, Nite draws). Next, click the Tab at the bottom labeled
"Draws". Click the Toolbar labeled "Copy Paste Draws to "StringsStep2.xlsm" Workbook. This should open the
"StringsStep2.xlsm" Excel file and copy the drawings to this file. Let me know if this worked. After all the data is
copied to the "StringsStep2.xlsm" Excel file you can close both the "P3StateDraws.xlsm" and "StringsStep1.xlsm" files. If
prompted to save you can save or just close them both.
You should now have the "StringsStep2.xlsm" file open. You can save the data and keep this file open. Click the Tab at the
bottom labeled "Draws" (leftmost tab). In the "Draws" tab there are 2 Toolbars. Top Toolbar labeled "Click to Clear All
Strings". Clicking this Toolbar will clear any previous skips data from each of the following Tabs. "2StringsSkips",
"3StringsSkips", "4StringsSkips", "5StringsSkips", "6StringsSkips", and "7StringsSkips". If you want
to calculate the skips just click the Toolbar labeled "Click to Calculate Strings". Warning: this process may take
anywhere up to 10 to 15 minutes to calculate. You should do this if you don't intend to use your computer for this amount
of time. As an alternative if you just want to calculate for example just the 6Strings click cell E8 and change th value
to "5". Click cell E9 and change the value to "5". By doing this you will only be calculating the "6Strings". Cell range
B20 through B25 has the list of the names of the Strings and to the right are the corresponding digits 1 through 6. So the
number "5" corresponds to the "6 Strings". Now if you want to calculate all of the strings you would enter a 1 in cell E8
and a 6 in cell E9 then click the toolbar labeled "Click to Calculate Strings".
The remaining Excel files "2StringsSkipHitChart.xlsm", "3StringsSkipHitChart,xlsm", "4StringsSkipHitChart,xlsm",
"5StringsSkipHitChart.xlsm", "5StringsSkipHitChart,xlsm", "6StringsSkipHitChart.xlsm",and "7StringsSkipHitChart.xlsm" are
used with the "StringsStep2.xlsm". Open the "StringsStep2.xlsm" file if not open. If open go to the Main menu and browse
to the folder P2Strings and open for example the Excel file "6StringsSkipChart.xlsm". The 1st tab labeled
"StringHitChart" contains all the skips for the "6Strings". Cell W2 is a value you can enter. I have the value 10 in cell
W2. The 10 will calculate any skip of 9 or less. This is what I posted in the LP thread. I'm looking for "how many"
consecutive draws (not including the current skip) where the "6Strings" broke. For example, the "6 String" 0,1,4,6,7,8 has
9 times where it broke less than 10 draws. The current skip is 7 so yu would play the 4 digit breaker 2,3,5,9 for 2 more
draws (Monday Morning and Midday draws) since we would stop at a skip of 10. Note: Just use only 1 Excel files below with
the "StringsStep2.xlsm" Excel file. "2StringsSkipHitChart.xlsm", "3StringsSkipHitChart,xlsm", "4StringsSkipHitChart,xlsm",
"5StringsSkipHitChart.xlsm", "5StringsSkipHitChart,xlsm", "6StringsSkipHitChart.xlsm",and "7StringsSkipHitChart.xlsm"
There's more information than what I have explained above. I guess the key is to find the best string break based on the
number of consecutive skips at a value you determine.
Let me know if you have any trouble with the Excel files...
