The classic Lotto game is now Colorado Lotto+
On Sunday, the Colorado Lottery's 30 year-old Lotto game was replaced with the new-and-improved Colorado Lotto+.
All 3,200 of the Lottery's retailer partners launched Colorado Lotto+ on September 22. The new game increased the cost to $2 per ticket, and has better odds of winning and more ways to win. The first Colorado Lotto+ drawing is set for Wednesday night, September 25.
Colorado Lotto+ is similar to the classic Lotto game in that players choose six numbers, or let the computer choose a "quick pick". The game matrix changed from a field of 42 numbers to a field of 40, giving players better odds of winning. Under the new game structure, the odds of winning the jackpot get an upgrade from 1 in 5.2 million to 1 in 3.8 million, and the odds of winning any prize improve from 1 in 35 to 1 in 30.
Each Colorado Lotto+ ticket includes a randomly selected multiplier from 2X, 3X, 4X, or 5X that applies to all non-jackpot prizes, offering a chance at bigger prizes. For $1 more per ticket, players can also win more with the optional "Plus" add-on feature, which enters them into an additional $250,000 jackpot drawing immediately following the Colorado Lotto+ drawing.
Some aspects of the new game will be familiar to players. The starting jackpot begins at $1 million and grows with each drawing, drawing nights will be Wednesdays and Saturdays, and the game will only be sold in Colorado.
Many of the Lottery's seasoned players have long requested changes to the old but lovable Lotto game, as it had remained unchanged in more than three decades. Since the Lotto game launched in January 1989, there have been 438 Lotto millionaires made in Colorado.

IDK...100% price increase with slightly better odds. So for $3 you can play the Plus feature.
Inflation has struck again.
That really sucks when lottery agencies changed the game matrices. Pennsylvania had a 5/39 game for many years then changed to a 5/43 game.
and then mm and pb will be expensive!
Illinois went from 5/30 to 5/39 and now it's 5/45.
The new Colorado Lotto+ will now have the same 40 Ball Matrix as the Louisiana Lotto, & Virginia Bank A Million games.
At $3.00 per line, would be $15.00 per ticket for 5 lines.
Under the old regime I could have purchased 2 tickets for $1 apiece and had odds of 1 in 2.6 million. Now the same $2 gives me odds of 1 in 3.8 million. Lol at the CO Lottery for spinning it as an improvement.

The good news is unlike the KY Lottery, Colorado understand what a multiplier is. In Kentucky Keno 1X is a multiplier.
On a side note, we had a blast with the KY Lottery and Miss Vanna White @ the KY Yum! Center. Then we won one of two VIP things and got meet Vanna again with more picture taking and a bag full of goodies. Got to rub elbows with the Director and Chip Polston and many employees of KLC. My friend said I wa acting like a kid in a candy store.

And the odds of winning any prize went from 2 in 35 for a $2 bet to 2 in 60 for a $2 bet. But hey! The odds are better if you ignore the cost of the odds.

1x is a multiplier everywhere they have math. So is 0.5, but don't tell anyone who works for the lottery.
You think that's bad? Here in NY, we've had Lotto 6/31, then 6/40, 6/48, 6/54, 6/51, and now it's 6/59, and has been since 2001! I know I might sound like a hypocrite with what I'm about to say, but I hope NY Lotto gets a makeover soon.
They also got rid of 2 numbers.
I do not trust them nor will I play them ever since they set a precedence where they do not have to pay winners their money they are legally entitled to..
