TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Sen. Gwen Margolis, D-Miami, wants to make Florida Lottery tickets just a click or two away.
Margolis has reintroduced a proposal (SB 98) for the 2014 session that would allow the Florida Lottery to create a program so anyone 18 or older could purchase lottery tickets online.
The Florida Lottery doesn't offer tickets by mail, fax, or via the Internet, requiring tickets to be purchased from among 13,000 authorized retailers.
The proposal comes as a legislative study is underway on the future of gaming in Florida and as many Republicans in the GOP-dominated Legislature have voiced an aversion to expanded gambling.
A similar proposal (SB 226) by Margolis in the 2013 session didn't advance beyond the Gaming Committee. Retailers opposed the measure.
While introducing the 2013 proposal, Margolis said that online sales would increase revenue, which would bring more money for educational scholarships.
sounds good
Once again the Repubs form a circular firing squad.
We need a new party.
With Mitch Mconnell fighting for his political life in the Kentucky Senate race where Powerball is played-anything and everything is possible.
Online gambling would be great if the whole process is done online as far as payoffs too. Save me a trip to the district office.anyway IT ROLLED AGAIN

Yes we do
Woah, FL Lottery is sky high. Hope all you LP members from Florida hit it big.
Australia does that - online lottery with the winnings deposited to your account. Works great and society hasn't imploded there. Only the first prize has to be personally validated by you at a lottery office. I miss the convenience.
I haven't won chit in 3 months with Florida Lotto
That sounds great.maybe we can cut down on the trees and I can get my 100s of cash 3 tickets online instead of waiting in line for each ticket to print; then when I hit I have to go all over the place to cash in my tickets.ONLINE GAMBLING PLEASE FLORIDA
I agree with online sales, it is quite accessible to the players. They need to study really hard so that they can create system to prevent minors from playing. It definitely has it's advantage and disadvantage.
