A 45-year-old Wyandanch, New York, man is a mega-millionaire.
The yet-to-be identified New York State Lottery winner came forward to claim his Mega Millions prize yesterday, lottery officials said.
Depending on how he wishes to be paid, either in installments or a single lump sum, his winnings could be as high as $26 million before taxes.
He will be introduced during a news conference at a later time, a lottery spokeswoman said yesterday.
The man purchased the winning ticket Friday at the P&T Supermarket in Wyandanch. His computer-generated Quick Pick numbers were 10, 12, 26, 46 and 50 with a mega ball of 23, lottery officials said.
Ramon Torres, 46, who runs the store with his brother-in-law and other family members, said the jackpot ticket was by far his biggest lottery sale. The next biggest, he said, occurred last year when a regular who usually just bought coffee got a scratch-off worth $30,000.
Torres said he did not know who won this time and was wondering — just like everyone — who the lucky person is.
Torres and his co-owners are winners of a more modest kind. As the seller of the jackpot ticket, P&T would also receive $10,000 from the lottery. Torres said he would probably put the money in a college fund for his children.
The computer didn't do too rotten a job for someone!

Finally someone in NY. Won the megamollion jackpot. I guess I was wrong when I said that the lottery officials choose the states they want to win the jackpot. After all I think the lottery is about luck. I think anyone can win the lottery only if they play. In this tough economic time it would be a great time to win the lottery.

Yesterday night I had a dream I won the megamillion jackpot and these were the numbers that came out. The numbers were 17-23-36-50-55 and megaball:17 I would like everyone to have their dream come true.
