On a "Dumb Ways To Scam The Lottery," video on YouTube, two Crooks glued "Their Number," 30 on to REAL number 2. 2 was on top of a 1 Million dollar prize. To the naked eye, it looked like 30 matched a 1 Million dollar prize. The Crooks turned in the ticket to a Lottery Clerk, expecting to get a Claim Form for a Million dollars. They forgot the Barcode would show that this was a losing ticket. The Lottery Clerk had them arrested instead for Attempted Grand Theft.

They should have sold the ticket on the street to a Random Stranger, saying something like,"Our Family doesn't approve of Gambling and will disown us if we cash in this Million dollar Winner. We just want our $30 (Cost of scratch off ticket) back and we'll sell you this Million dollar Winner to you for $30. The Random Stranger falls for it, buys it for $30 and the Crooks go on about their Business Scot free after getting the $30 back for the worthless ticket while the Random Stranger gets into trouble when they try to cash in the "Million dollar Winner that they bought off the streets from Random People.

"What's your ADDRESS?" May be the CREEPIEST question EVER asked to a Lottery Winner! O.O WTF?

At first, I found the one digit away draws kind of amusing, but now I am PISSED! 15 or 16 times I was off by just one digit in recent times!🤬 No longer find this amusing, it's making me REALLY angry now!🤬

Would anyone actually buy a scratched scratchoff from a stranger? Would you? I suspect the vast majority of people would immediately know it's some kind of scam.

Lots of People have fallen for even more obvious scams, and the ticket DID look like it was a Million dollar Winner to the naked eye. I wish I could find a picture of the actual altered ticket because they REALLY made it look like a real Million dollar Winner...

I looked up this story on Google literally a minute ago and the Amount was actually 100,000, not a million and the ticket was only a $5 Winner, not a $30 Winner. It only being $5 is a much better chance of getting someone to buy it from them than $30. Maybe the Random Stranger will be like,"LMAO! I know this ticket is clearly a Loser, but I'll give you $5 to be nice. Keep your "Winning Ticket!" They could actually get lots of money doing it that way. Just ask 20 people on the streets to buy this $5 " $100,000 Winner," and get $100 when those People laugh at the "100,000 Winner ticket and give them the $5 for free to be nice and tell them to KEEP that "Winning Ticket,". :D

I've been reduced to searching under the couch cushions for change a time or two, but I don't think I've ever been desperate enough to spend a couple days selling a fake lottery ticket to strangers for a mere hundred dollar profit.

I wonder if my thread will be closed because it got a negative vote and a bad rating....:/ I was BANNED of a Website for something similar despite not doing anything wrong...

Probably not a good idea to start a thread talking about how to scam the lottery on a lottery site.

If its the two guys in Mississippi, I'd think their biggest problem is the false identification.

There's no law against presenting a lottery ticket for payment and according to the story, the ticket was signed and presented for payment.

But there's no way they could know it was a winner or not without presenting it. (Just like you said, they bought it from a guy on the street; found it in the trash/parking lot).

So unless they created some major ruckus when/if they were told it wasn't a winner a lawyer will get that stuff thrown.
The conspiracy charge may be a little tougher. What did they conspire to do? What did they admit too?

In the end, they tried to validate a ticket. Validation is all about making sure its a winning ticket.
It wasn't a winner and no money changed hands.

And then the false ID. That seems to be the charge that will stick on the one guy.

And he'll get credit for time served.

I'm probably here unless I'm not.
Dreaming would be a perfectly useless function if it's only purpose was to entertain.

I wasn't trying to talk about scamming The Lottery, I was talking more of them trying to get their money back by selling it on the street. But thank you for politely explaining why I got a Downvote and Negative Star for this thread. I was honestly baffled. Thank you for politely clearing it up. I hope this thread doesn't get me banned as I was just thinking of how they could have gotten their money back, not trying to talk about scamming The Lottery. I also though about a George Lopez episode where Benny comes up with a scheme on how to get her money back for losing tickets. I will not go into detail about her scheme because I don't want to get into trouble on here...:/

Karen you're a good soul. Likable, personable and one of the few who posts daily about the lottery. I couldn't down vote it if I wanted too!
I pretty much chuckled at the idea. People will be people and some, if you give them an inch, they'll take a mile. These two are dunderheads.

Never been an upvote/downvote type. I wanted a like button where posters gave and received likes for their contribution.

Just don't get shy about posting, or expressing your opinion because of an unfavorable rating or a dislike. Its not real!

Thank you for the warm words and vote of confidence! :D On another Website, the Admin, Head Admin at that! Started a Poll Thread asking if I should be banned after I made about 54 posts in two weeks. About 4 extra Votes voted for me to be banned and I was thrown out like yesterday's trash despite doing nothing wrong. At least one Poster stood up for me, saying something like,"Why is there even a Poll Thread asking if Karen should be Banned? She's nice and sweet and doesn't deserve this Poll.Sure, she made about 54 post in about 3 years, but The Greatest GOAT of all time made about 54 posts just today, and he doesn't have a Poll Thread asking if he should be banned...

They do news stories here all the time about people trying to scam the lottery. Eddie Tipton for one. I wouldn't worry one bit about getting banned here because you posted a story about it.
