Today I wanted to introduce a new series aimed at winning even when you've lost.
But first a quick rant.
Quick rant [Start]:
One constant I continue to see is that people play the lottery blindly (translation: their picks are based off whim, or hope, or generally anything without foundation). These people (lambs) are typically preyed upon by the lottery wolves who promise them BIG wins (with fancy words like algorithms and patterns), but they never share their strategies, algorithms or patterns. If a ‘hit’ materializes they attribute it to an obscure ‘state’ as proof of their prediction prowess.
After a few weeks/months (when the wins haven’t materialized), the lambs are lost and frustrated because they don’t understand why they lost. The effect is compounded. Imagine what it feels like to lose when you don’t know why.
I once had a friend who lamented that she had difficulty finding a particular type of man. The irony of her frustration was that demographically that ’particular’ man did not exist in her city.
How many of you reading this are following a similar lottery (or life) strategy? Takeaway: You can’t make decisions without data.

I’d like to share a recent experience. 8/2/21, 6:18PM EST, to be exact.
Note: I don't play Pick 4 everyday, but I expect to win everyday. What I mean is I have RBTL email numbers to me before the cutoff, then I check if I won usually after 10PM EST.
RBTL has a new tool called consecutive draws. As the name implies it displays consecutive draws by date as a means to see what YYYYMM is trending.
Here’s what it displayed yesterday before the FL Pick 4 Evening Draw:
The arrow on the left displays the trending YYYYMM, and the right arrow displays last 3 days of drawings.
** Nothing is being advertised. Simple advanced Excel screenshot below. **
Since 2010-02 is trending (data proves it) I ask RBTL to give me the numbers trending for 2010-02.
Here’s what RBTL said:
I checked results after 10PM and saw this:
Excited, I reviewed the numbers RBTL suggested and realized, I missed the win by 1 digit.
Did I learn something from the loss? You bet I did.

Let’s pick up from yesterday (08/3/21), and pretend it was well before the midday and evening FL Pick 4 draws.
Step1: Get past winners: 0754 8996 2414 7670 1964 *2580 (*current)
Step2: Review consecutive draws. See below.
Step 3: Mindset - Since we want positive ROI whatever we spend has to be less than we can potentially make. *Spend less to WIN more Pick 4.
Step 3 (cont): And, we should factor in our spend for both midday and evening draws.
Step 4: Analysis: The last time we missed a win because we didn’t include a larger result set. Let’s not do that again.
Let’s include a larger data set. 2010-02 - 2010-05. See below
Result (2010-02 - 2010-05): Depending on play type (str/box or box) we could have spent $73 or 2X $73.
Box (midday/eve): $73 = $300
str/box (midday/eve) $146 = $300
Let’s do 2012-01 next. See below.
Result (2012-01 - 2012-09): Depending on play type (str/box or box) we could have spent $315 or 2X $315.
Box (midday/eve): $315 = $200
str/box (midday/eve) $630 = $200
What did we learn: Dates circa 2010-02 - 2010-05 are trending. We should continue to look here for WINs. 2012-01, not so much. And, depending on the amount of money we want does it make sense to take the aforementioned bets?
I didn’t take either bet. Reason: It's not worth the risk. Besides the data will set us up nicely for a bigger payout with less spend. Stay tuned.

I am a creature of habit. This is not a good trait to have if you're trying to WIN big money.
A person of habit tends to use the same techniques, strategies, and numbers. And I'm communicating, DON'T DO THAT! (Caveat: Do it only if the data says to do it).
As you all know I'm tweaking a new 'consecutive dates' function. Yesterday I got the email notification part to work, so I was pretty stoked when it emailed me this. See below.
Keep in mind you're trying to find a single needle in a proverbial 10K haystack of possible choices. So if you can limit the haystack to > 100 choices you're in the ballpark.
Why am I telling you all this? Answer: @Janair asked me for possible Picks yesterday and I communicated this. I got sidetracked and went back to my old habits. I should have stuck to what the data told me.

Caveat: I know the above 2016-02 & 2020-10 months seems like a lot of numbers. I asked the code to bring back everything for backtesting. I'm still working to limit the count.
