I am totally against the sale of our state lottery. NSW lotteries is one of the best run lotteries in the in the world, so why sell it off? It is very short sighted of governments to sell of the family silver. NSW Lotteries brings in around $1.1 billion in sales revenue. Last year, NSW Lotteries paid duties of just over $300 million.
In one of the discussions here on LP about some of the U.S. states doing the same thing, talking of selling their lotteries to private businesses, someone pointed out that ironically, the states themselves want "cash option" over an "annuity".
