Hoosier Lotto

Guru101's avatar - rw6jhh

Well, Hoosier Lotto is at $44.5M and with PowerBall reset to $15M, I'll be taking the $6 I won on PowerBall, adding $5 and buy $11 worth of Hoosier Lotto tickets. Hoosier Lotto is almost 12 times easier to win than PowerBall. Hoosier Lotto jackpot odds are 1 : 12,271,512 compared to PowerBall's 1 : 146,107,962. The cash option is probably around $26M about now as well compared to $7M for PowerBall. Higher and easier to win. Hope I win.Big Smile

Since Hoosier Lotto is at a record level, I wonder if there is going to be a press conference at the store that sold the ticket. If so, I'm gonna show up at the store during the press conference if I win. I think I got some lucky tickets.Big Grin

Did someone win the Hoosier Lotto jackpot or did it roll?

It rolled. It's now at $45M.

Hoosier Lotto (6/48) game does seem do have a different distribution of its numbers than other similar games, the distribution seems to be more even as if a computer is controlling them.

The next time I come to Indiana to play PowerBall, if it's still rolling I plan to play it too.  I will use my computer to pick some combinations with a similar distribution of numbers.

This weekend, it has the largest jackpot in the country so there are probably others heading to Indiana with the same idea.  I doubt if it will keep rolling until the PB jackpot is high enough for me to take a trip to Indiana, but I will be ready if it does.

Those draw dates aren't consecutive. The distribution looks fine to me.

In response to Guru101

The drawings aren't meant to be consecutive, they show the minimum previous drawings that involved all six numbers of the last drawings.

The numbers are fine but I use the green numbers at the bottom that have the number of the draw that had the numbers and the counts of the hits at the time to formulate combinations to play in future drawings.

When I've looked at the last 50 or so drawings of WVa Cash25 and Ohio Classic Lotto I've seen clusters of events happening at particular times and I don't see that with Indiana Lotto. It's something I've been playing around with and I plan to try it out with the Indiana Lotto the next time I'm over there.

Did it roll? Thanks for the information that Hoosier Lotto draws the same days as CA SLP and PB.

Well, to each his own. We all have our own ways of picking numbers. If it works for you, then go for it.

Yep, it rolled. $46M annuity and the cash option is about $28M.

What is the starting jackpot in Hoosier Lotto?

Guru101's avatar - rw6jhh
In response to Just6ntlc

$1,000,000. The first 2 draws, the jackpot stays at $1,000,000, then it increases by $500,000 each time it rolls.

I did get a match4 with Classic Lotto on the prediction board with 10 lines this weekend after adding an index feature that acts as a filter.  WVa Cash25 with a pool of only 25 numbers didn't need it but Classic Lotto has 49 numbers and could use the additional help to make winning more affordable.

I may start testing the Hoosier Lotto by adding it to the list of games I predict and see what happens.

It is not hard to approximate how many tickets are live in each roll. I dont care what the sales figures are.  If the odds are 1 in 7 to win a free pick ticket and last roll 200k won them then its a safe assumption that 1.4 million tickets or combinations are played.  With 100 rolls even assuming only 1.2 million tickets per roll in play ( some are more some are less)  you would think 120 million live tickets over time would crack a 12 million to one lottery (especially with a lot of birthday numbers coming in lately).  Why take things so personal?  The Indiana lottery is a poorly run crooked organization based on prior mishaps.  All lotteries are sucker bets, but when it comes to sucker bets based on math this lottery is the one people should focus on since the cash value to odds is way past 1.:1.

A week ago I heard on the news that the lottery sold 1.6 million tickets. Just where do they get their math?  Based on odds and payouts I figured the sales to be over 6 million tickets. This did not include those tickets with zero and 1 number on them. The odds for those should be about 1 in 3. I would estimate that there were at least 3 million of those. Overall, the total sales should be in the range of 9 to 10 million tickets.  Ok, where is the other 8 million? Let me tell you, I have played the pic 3, 4 and 5 for a long time spending in excess of 150,000 and cannot hit a simple $200 combo. This goes on year after year. If there are any University professors out there that would like me to send these tickets for study let me know. I figure that in an 8-10 year period I have played in excess of 2 million numbers on the pic 4 and cannot win a dime. This is impossible, but so is a 6/48 game getting to 50 million. Let me tell you, there is a problem.  Fortunantly, the conscious level of mankind is rising, and these things will soon be uncovered.  Again, I have enough tickets to wallpaper the Great Wall of China with absolutely NO WINS!  If you look at the Hoosier Lottery's daily game payouts the message becomes quite clear.  People in Tennessee like lottomike can now more clearly understand what is happening. But Tennessee pales to this mess here.  Corruption is rampant in our State and people are crying for help in all areas. In a way, Tennessee's problems are a blessing. Things are becoming exposed and peoples' awareness is rising.  Corruption will not stand as it is against all laws of the universe. Our COMPASSION will make us free.

Have you ever thought that the payouts are low because the sales are low? It makes sense. If there isn't that many people buying tickets for a game, the payout numbers will have the same reflection. That's really the only thing you or anybody else on here can assume that's the reason why because you don't know the sales figures, and NO, I don't care what your "calculations" are. The only information that matters is the OFFICIAL information. Also, there are a lot of people that could play Pick 3, with odds of 1 in 1000, for YEARS and still not end up winning. So you're not alone. Even 1 in 1000 isn't that good of odds to begin with. I'm sure if other people saved their losing tickets, they too would have a truck load. If I was you I would do 2 things:

1. Cut back on your lottery spending. I don't know anyone who spends $33,000/year on the lottery. If you're spending $33,000/year on the lottery, then it's either because

A. You can afford it, and if you're the type of person who can actually AFFORD to spend $33,000/year on the lottery, then you probably don't need to even play the lottery anyway making that type of money.

or

B. You have a gambling problem.

AND

2. Come up with your own system for choosinglottery numbers. I recommend picking up a book on C++ and start making you're own computer programs to pick your numbers to maximize your system's potential.

Which is more improbable? Hoosier Lotto rolling this many times, or you not learning your lesson yet?

Estimated Jackpots:
  Hoosier Lotto -$50.5 Million
  Powerball -$20 Million
  Next Drawing: 10/10/2007

It continues to roll.  With odds of 1:7 of winning a free ticket and only 260,521 of them won,  I'm guessing the jackpot not attracting a lot of players.

Pretty humble pic3 and pic 4 payouts for having the biggest state jackpot, dont u think? I like how there are normally 0 straight pic 4 winners everyday. (midday and eve)

Number of payouts is a reflection of the number of players.  No players, no payouts, no winners.

I guess I wasn't meant to win $50M, I guess I was meant to win more.I'm going to step it up next draw and play $30.Jester I play $20 on it about 6 months using my system and got 4 3/6's and 3 2/6's, but since then I got all kinds of new and better stuff. Newer stuff and an extra $10 this time could mean a jackpot win.Thumbs Up

This is ridiclous.  How many times has it been the "record" high?  Maybe I should cut down on my spendings on Hoosier Lotto.  Everytime it goes record high, I go crazy like hell.

i'm curious has anyone on this site actually won a jackpot

"In September 1994, Hoosier Lotto replaced Lotto Cash. Hoosier Lotto was designed to have more winners and bigger jackpots and offered the only "match two of six" prize in a pick-six game in North America."
 The Hoosier websites

I recently downloaded the results of all 1184 drawings from 09/24/94 to 10/05/07.  I've started breaking down the data by comparing the file to itself.  As you can see combinations of sixes only happened once and combinations of fives only repeated 44 times.

TOTAL MATCHES

MATCH  0 = 595350
MATCH  1 = 583216
MATCH  2 = 193662
MATCH  3 = 26882
MATCH  4 = 1518
MATCH  5 = 44
MATCH  6 = 1184

As I get a typical profile of the winning combinations and how they relate to the other drawings I will develop a profile the numbers I will pick to play if I ever get over to Indiana before the jackpot is won.

New here to the site and my first post is just whining lol.

In recent weeks I've been playing the hoosier lotto just because the jackpot is big now. otherwise I wouldn't mess with it.

On the last drawing I matched 4/6. When I saw this I thought "Hey that's gotta be pretty decent win I have here."

So I check the their website to see how many weeks of groceries it will cover.

wooooooow! 40 washingtons! disgusting.

also kinda funny that the pick 3 has better odds but a $500 payout.

You know, it's usually better to find out information about a game BEFORE you play. You didn't do that, so you were disappointed in the amount once you discovered it. You shouldn't have expected to win hundreds of dollars for getting 4/6 numbers on a Pick 6/48 game. Actually most states with a Pick 6 game don't pay more than $100, and the ones that pay more than $40 also have a bigger matrix. I encourage EVERYONE to educate yourself on a game(or anything for that matter) before you play it as you should so you won't be disappointed.

On the last drawing I matched 4/6. When I saw this I thought "Hey that's gotta be pretty decent win I have here."

If lotteries paid out what everyone thought matching any of the numbers should pay, they would pay out a lot more than they receive in tickets sales.

If you could check their website after you won then you could have checked it before you played and known what to expect.  Chances are if you had played their pick 3 game and got a box hit, you would be whining too.

It rolled! Yee haw! I think it's waiting for me to win it!Cool
