hi there codmander..Are u new here? If so welcome. Well for one I don't mind computer drawings. I just don't like officials running the lottery cheating. Which I believe IN is doing.  I like your name for the ball machines. Gravity machine is a nice way to put it.

I like the challange with those machines. I don't believe the ball machines are harder.

The computers are computers I do it for a living. They are the future for America. No biggie been dealing with them for over 15 years.

I read on one of the lottery sites that a person hits a button for the air to start the ball machine air chambers.

Well each machine is putting out the right amout of air right??

Maybe this is what makes the gravity machines unique to each other. One machine might like x amount of air while a different machine might require xx amount making the balls between the 2 machines different or the same depening.

Well there is many things that are good and bad about both but in the end I'm going to continue to play. It's something I like to do.

The biggest problem with computers is that there is no real way to know how their random number is being generated.   Online casinos are not to be trusted for the same reasons.

Some time ago I saw an eloquent article of how the online casinos can program their games so that it satisfies "random" legally while at the same time making it next to impossible to beat them for any amount of "real" money. Very much unlike land Casinos.

There is also the issue that the lottery commissions themselves do not know when a computer might be malfunctioning. You can search Lottery Post for the news article of a State getting the same numbers drawn 3 times in a row. Other than the numbers coming up, there is nothing visual to indicate a problem - with mechanical machines, if there is a malfunction, it is easier to see that something is wrong.

I think the bias against computer (RNG or Random Numeber Generator) drawings has more to do with it having a greater potential for abuse on the part of the lottery commission/workers/government. THey can tinker with it, after all; it's all software and computers. Additionally, RNG drawings are not televised. (what's to televise?) People like to see the mechanical machines spitting out the ping pong balls, although I have no doubt that can also be tinkered with on the part of the PTB.

Personally, at least in Pick 3, I have noticed almost no difference at all in obtaining hits using a common method in the RNG drawings as opposed to the ball drawings. What I have problems with is certain states (like my own) seeming to not follow patterns as much as other states do. They really don't need to tinker with the games since the odds are so strongly in their favor to begin with. But that wouldn't necessarily stop them from doing it. After all, they don't run these games in order to make a lot of people winners.  They run them to make themselves as much profit as possible.

Gravity Machine is not codmanders name for ball machines. It's a particular kind of ball machine. There are two kinds of ball machines, air mix and gravity pick. Air mix involves light ping-pong balls being blown around as is the traditional method. Gravity pick uses revolving arms, or in the latest cases spinning turntables, to spin hard rubber balls (think of a superball) around. And codmander is right on the money about these things. Computers, not to mention air mix machines, usually have apparent biases. Gravity pick machines on the other hand probably provide the most random results out there, and therefore are hard to predict.

The reason we don't like computerized drawings has nothing to do with throwing off patterns or any kind of prediction mumbo-jumbo. We don't like computerized drawings because they're done under closed doors, and even if the person operating the computer is the most honest person ever, he can't see what's going on in the computer and whether or not it's doing what it's supposed to. There's no transparency.

I have reason to believe that online casinos aren't truly random and that they are rigged to only pay out a certain prize so many times so the payout is exactly 50% or whatever.

Lotteries should not run their own lottery machines, un-interested 3rd parties should do that, neutral people or services.

I don't trust lotteries doing their own drawings, any more than I trust online casinos.

really that would be better having a 3rd party involved- like the state police  ((but then theres always room for corruption))I Agree!

I don't like computerized drawings. If this was a poll, I pick gravity machine.
