Powerball

There were no Powerball jackpot winners Wednesday but 305,507 players across the nation won a total of more than $2.8 million in prizes in America's Game.

Because no one correctly matched all six numbers in Wednesday's drawing the jackpot will grow to an estimated $15 million.

The cash option for the Saturday, October 16 drawing will be an estimated $6.8 million.

The numbers drawn were: 5, 14, 17, 45, 46 and the Powerball was 41. The Power Play multiplier was 4.

Four players correctly matched the 5 white numbers and won $100,000. The tickets were sold in Connecticut, Iowa, Indiana, and Nebraska. One additional player not only matched 5, but also purchased the Power Play option and won $400,000.

That lucky player was from Missouri. Thirteen players matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $5,000. Two additional players matched 4+1 plus the Power Play, giving them a total win of $20,000.

More than 40,000 winning Powerball players multiplied their prize by 4 Wednesday. They were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play option for one dollar. With Power Play you can multiply your winnings, except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night's multiplier.

Players should carefully check their tickets after every draw. Even if there are no jackpot winners there are always tens of thousands of winners at other prize levels.

Players purchased more than 13.3 million tickets between Sunday and Wednesday night.

The lotteries sold more than $2.2 billion in Powerball tickets in FY04. That translates into more than $660 million for worthwhile state projects.

Most people play quick picks hence quick picks win more often. Its that simple.

i can't remember the last time someone won the powerball jackpot or the 100,000 prize using their own numbers, does anyone know?

CASH Only

Sure they have.

There are a lot of people who play the lottery but many of them don't or won't take the time to pick their own numbers. It doesn't fit into their busy lifestyle. Some people pick their own numbers and buy quick picks also. And it's just simpler/easier when you hit the ticket counter to say give me a couple quick picks for tonight's game.

Do you think that they were unhappy that it was "only" $15 mil...

i'm sure they are happy with it,these states that never hit they are happy to hit it at 10 million and it does a lot for the ego of a lil place that hardly ever wins.........
