Powerball Jackpot Jumps to $64 Million

Powerball

The jackpot in America's favorite lottery game is on the way up. There were no Powerball jackpot winners Wednesday but 377,430 players across the nation won a total of more than $3.2 million in prizes in America's Game.

Because no one correctly matched all six numbers in Wednesday's drawing the jackpot will grow to an estimated $64 million.

The cash option for the Saturday, September 11 drawing will be an estimated $34.4 million.

The numbers drawn Wednesday night were: 2, 4, 28, 33, 52 and the Powerball was 18. The Power Play multiplier was 3.

Six players correctly matched the 5 white numbers and won $100,000. The tickets were sold in Connecticut, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. An additional winner of match 5 from Indiana also purchased the Power Play option. By spending the extra dollar, they were able to multiply their prize by 3 for a total win of $300,000.

Sixteen players matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $5,000. Three additional players at this prize level also purchased the Power Play and had their $5,000 winnings multiplied by 3 to $15,000.

More than 49,000 winning Powerball players multiplied their prize by 3 Wednesday. They were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play option for one dollar. With Power Play you can multiply your winnings, except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night's multiplier.

Players should carefully check their tickets after every draw. Even if there are no jackpot winners there are always tens of thousands of winners at other prize levels.

Players purchased more than 15.4 million tickets between Sunday and Wednesday night. The lotteries sold more than $2.2 billion in Powerball tickets in 2004. That translates into more than $660 million for worthwhile state projects.

dude.  it is very rare for the jackpot to be won outside the eastern and central time zones.  the last time the mega millions jackpot was won outside those two time zones was about 2 years ago.  when was the last time the powerball jackpot won outside the eastern and central time zones?

Who cares where most jackpots have been won?!?

According to your logic, if markp1950 moved to New York his odds of winning would improve.

it isn't location as much as it is population.  i read on powerball.com that the number of jackpot winners in a state is about poportional to the ticket sales in that state.

Wisconsin is in the central time zone.  But I dont think that matters anyway.

here's what i got out of powerball.com:

- population determines where the jackpot is usually won.  the more tickets bought in a general area, the more likely the jackpot will be won in that area, but i guess anything can happen.

someone outside those time zones last won the jackpot over 2 years ago.  could they be overdue?

Ya'll know I don't know "numbers"  so I will depend on the Gods.  lord Quick Pick, and sometimes lord Calvert!  But always our Lord Jesus.  I figure if I play enough I might at least win a few dollars!  I haven't even on $3.00 in over two months!  I play twice a week buying $5 at a time.  I think I have the letter "L" on my forehead!

No one can seriously argue that your odds are better in some states than others. For example, even if you had five consecutive jackpot winners in Pennsylvania, you have to take into account all the other Pennsylvanians (in their hundreds of thousands if not millions) that played but didn't win. And there have been cases of "outsiders" (i.e. non residents) travelling in a state and buying a winning ticket there. It's purely random. Instead of just focusing on the jackpot, I think you should read the prize break down on the Powerball website. I think you will find there are often winners in nearly all of the Powerball states who at one point or another have won the $5,000 or $100,000 prizes and some have had them with the Power Play. Serious players look to win any prize but often. Dreamers only focus on the grand prize and then are outraged when their dreams are shattered.

I'm one of those non-jackpot-winning pennsylvanians...

"Dibs!"

PA has a serious representation at the ticket machines... Hopefully they all go out to vote.

I would like to see hot lotto roll over if it came to PA... our 5/39 cash5 is hit almost every night...
