One ticket wins $37 million UK Lotto jackpot

Champagne corks were popping Wednesday night as one lucky winner celebrated scooping a whopping $37 million (£20 million) cash UK Lotto jackpot prize.

Camelot said one ticket had won £20,100,472 on Wednesday evenings draw.  The jackpot for Saturdays game is an estimated £5 million (US$9.3 million).

Unlike Lotto games played in the United States, the UK Lotto prizes are all lump-sum, tax-free cash.  Winning Wednesday's $37 million jackpot is similar to winning a $100 million advertised jackpot in the United States.

The winning Lotto numbers were 47, 38, 33, 6, 27, 45 and the bonus number was 8.

Draw machine moonstone and set of balls one were used.

Unlike Lotto games played in the United States, the UK Lotto prizes are all lump-sum, tax-free cash.  Winning Wednesday's $37 million jackpot is similar to winning a $100 million advertised jackpot in the United States.

Ten winners matched five out of six balls and the bonus ball to win £156,937 (US$290,538) each; 553 people won £1,773 (US$3,282) by matching five out of six; 31,024 won £69 (US$128) each by matching four of six; and 576,998 won £10 ($18.50) by matching three out of six.

UK Lotto players are anticipating another large jackpot when the Lottery holds the second of two July "super-draws" on July 24.  The minimum jackpot in that drawing will be $27.8 million (£15 million).

Other Games

In Lotto Extra, nobody won the prize which will roll over to Saturday with an estimated jackpot of £16.2 million (US$30 million).

The winning numbers were 27, 7, 23, 33, 49 and 25.

In the Thunderball game, the numbers drawn were 32, 18, 14, 10, 1, and the Thunderball was 13.

One person won the guaranteed top prize of £250,000 (US$462,901) by matching five numbers and the Thunderball.
