There was one winning ticket sold in Saturday night's record-setting $145 million Lotto Texas drawing, lottery officials said.

The lucky ticket was purchased at a Chevron station in downtown El Paso. The winning numbers were 9-26-28-29-40 with a bonus ball of 16.

Earlier Saturday, people lined up at grocery stores and gas stations across the state to buy tickers in hopes of winning the state lottery's largest jackpot ever.

Texans seemed undeterred by their slim chances. The odds against winning Lotto Texas with a single, $1 ticket are 1 in 47.8 million.

At 10 p.m. Saturday, average hourly sales for the lottery were 36,931 tickets a minute. Lottery officials said Saturday's sales totaled $17.6 million.

Mindy Pena, a 19-year-old clerk at Pena's Drive-In Grocery in San Benito, said she buys tickets from several different stores.

"I figure every store might have some luck," Pena said in Saturday's edition of the Valley Morning Star. "That's a lot of money, so that just encourages me to buy more."

The last jackpot winner was 32 drawings and nearly four months ago.

The escalating jackpot numbers and accompanying ticket sales are a relief for Texas lottery officials who feared sales would suffer after the state recently began participating in the multistate Mega Millions game.

Next up for Texas lottery players is Mega Millions, which currently boasts a jackpot of $150 million.

Texas participates with ten other states in the multi-state game, which is experiencing its highest jackpot level in four months.
