New York Lottery

If Detective Ann Marie Moloney has your number, it could be the luckiest day of your life.

The 15-year NYPD veteran moonlights by announcing the winning numbers for the New York State Lottery.

While the two jobs may seem like night and day, Moloney, 39 - who heads upstate twice a month for lottery duty - says they are not that different. "Both jobs are potentially life changing," she said.

Being in the spotlight is nothing new to Moloney, who studied acting, singing and dancing in hopes of a career on the Great White Way, but gave it up to follow her father and brother in the NYPD.

During her time on the force, Moloney has worked in The Bronx, Queens and Manhattan. Right now she's assigned to the department's ceremonial unit.

Moloney says she gets some friendly ribbing from fellow cops - especially when their numbers don't come up.

"They watch me and tell me if they liked what I wore, or my enunciation," she said. "I get a lot of - 'Hey! What happened last night?' They find it amusing," she laughed.

The New York Lotto jackpot is currently on a 1-year high, at $42 million for the upcoming Wednesday evening drawing.
