Man, Woman Robbed Victim Of $11,000

Miami Police said a Latino couple approached a woman on Feb. 4, telling her they needed her help to cash a winning lottery ticket valued at $425,000.  The man and woman told the woman they would pay her a percentage of the loot, in exchange for a "fee" of $11,000.

The following week, on Feb. 10, the woman gave the men the $11,000, and the three drove to a pharmacy in North Miami, where the woman left the cash in her car and walked inside the drugstore.  The woman lost sight of the men inside the pharmacy, and when she returned to her car, the men -- and her money -- were gone.

Police were looking for a white Latin man around 40 years old with a medium complexion, 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 166 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair.  The female robber is described as white Latina, around 30 years old, 5 feet 3 inches tall and around 230 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair and a fair complexion.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (866) 471-TIPS (8477) or (305) 471-TIPS (8477).  A reward of up to $1,000 may be offered if the tip leads to an arrest.

These despicable crimnals really know how to exploit the greed and stupidty of some people.  This old "pigeon-drop" scam usually takes place within hours, but this victim had seven days to ask anybody for common sense advice (or go to Lottery Post).  We keep reading about so many victims, but why hasn't there ever been anybody who was approached but did enough due diligence to catch on and get the criminals arrested?
