First a military veteran hit a Megabucks slot jackpot shortly after Veterans Day, then a woman who was born on Christmas Eve hit Megabucks shortly before Christmas.

Friday, a 49-year-old woman who said she dreamed two weeks ago she would win a lot of money did not let the unlucky Friday the 13th superstition stand in the way of fulfilling her dream at a Megabucks machine at the MGM Grand hotel in Las Vegas.

The winner, a woman from another country who asked to remain anonymous, hit for $10.2 million. She said she felt that the machine was calling out to her. She said she put just $20 in before lining up the three Megabucks symbols.

In November, Jake Latulip, a 69-year-old retired Marine from Las Vegas, hit a $19.6 million Megabucks jackpot -- sixth largest in the history of the International Game Technology statewide-linked progressive dollar machines -- at the Stardust.

In December, Amy Nishimura, 71, of Hawaii, who was born on Chirstmas Eve, hit an $8.9 million Megabucks jackpot at the Fremont hotel. She too said she had a dream of hitting the jackpot.

Megabucks is paid in 25 annual installments. Winners, however, can choose within 60 days to take a lump sum for a lesser amount.

"She said she felt that the machine was calling out to her. She said she put just $20 in before lining up the three Megabucks symbols." People do become very attached to certain machines in the casinos. I have a friend who accidentally started playing someone else's slot machine in LasVegas. The lady who had been playing the machine had gone for more coins and when she came back and saw him playing 'her machine' she got so angry she actually chased him all the way out into the parking lot. True story :)
