The jackpot in the multi-state Mega Millions lottery grew to $177 million Saturday when no tickets matched all 5 numbers and the Mega Ball in the Friday drawing.
The $177 million Mega Millions jackpot is the largest in eight months.
The last time the Mega Millions jackpot was this large was on Friday, June 20, 2003, when part-time letter carrier Bernadette Geitka of Essex, Maryland, 54, was the sole winner of a $183 million Mega Millions jackpot.
If the jackpot rolls over once more, it will likely be the largest Mega Millions jackpot in almost two years.
The next drawing will be Tuesday.
There were 17 second-prize winners from Friday night's drawing, matching all five lotto numbers but not the Mega Ball number to win $175,000 each. The second-prize winners were distributed among the eleven Mega Millions states as follows:
1 in New Jersey
2 in Georgia
2 in Massachusetts
8 in Michigan
2 in New York
1 in Ohio
1 in Virginia
Sixty-five players matched four of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $5,000.
The winning numbers from Friday's drawing were: 14, 30, 42, 43, and 45. The Mega Ball number was 30.
