A Texas City resident recently claimed the $29 million lottery ticket that was sold at a local convenience store in November.
The winner asked for little publicity surrounding her win, said Leticia Vasquez, spokesperson for the Texas Lottery.
Candace Ford, representing the Treshay Limited Partnership, LynnCan LLC, claimed the ticket Dec. 1.
She collected $8.8 million under the cash value option at the Texas Lottery headquarters in Austin.
Were happy to be a part of what Im sure will be a great holiday season for those connected to this partnership, said Texas Lottery Commission Executive Director Reagan E. Greer when Ford collected the winnings.
The winning lotto ticket, which was sold at a local Texas City convenience store, was drawn Nov. 8. The numbers drawn that day were 5, 11, 17, 16, 34 and the bonus number was 7.
The T & T Food Mart, at 7320 FM 1765 in Texas City, is eligible to receive $145,000, which is a bonus of 1 percent of the jackpot for selling the ticket.
The day after the drawing, Tung Duong, store owner, said the neighbor walked into his food mart and revealed she had the ticket. Then she squealed in delight.
A Houston resident claimed the other share of the ticket.
Mohammad Golshan also chose the Cash Value Option and purchased his ticket at Fiesta Mart #19, located at 1005 Blalock in Houston.
The Texas City resident is now one of about 20 lottery winners on the mainland and Duongs store is the second Texas City site to sell a winning ticket.
In 1997, 20 Texas City residents became millionaires when they decided to take the lotterys cash value option and split $28 million of the original $55 million pot.
They bought their ticket at a convenience store at 21st Street and Loop 197.
