Two winning tickets, one purchased in Pennsylvania and the other in South Carolina, will split the Powerball New Year's Eve jackpot worth $221.5 million.
Thirty players correctly matched the five white numbers and won $100,000 each.
Better-than-expected sales caused the jackpot to jump from the estimated $210 million to $221.5 million.
The winners will have to decide if they want a 29-year, 30-payment annuity or the cash option worth $60.1 million each. They have 60 days after their ticket is validated to make that decision.
The $221.5 million jackpot ranks as the fifth-largest Powerball pot ever, and the sdventh-largest lottery jackpot overall. The numbers drawn were 5, 7, 18, 28 and 35; Powerball was 1 and Powerplay multiplier was 3.
