Powerball

A Bloomington, Indiana couple on Friday claimed about $5.2 million in cash with the second winning Powerball ticket sold in Indiana in less than a week.

Jon and Louanne Lashbrook matched all the winning numbers for Wednesday's Powerball drawing, Hoosier Lottery officials said.

The jackpot was $10 million, but the Lashbrooks decided to take the one-time cash payment.

Jon Lashbrook is a systems analyst for the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. His wife, Louanne, is a deputy treasurer for Monroe County.

"This has not sunk in yet," Jon Lashbrook said. "We are going to take this one step at a time. We will pay bills, retire and travel."

Jon Lashbrook said he planned to retire from his job, while his wife said would stay on her job to help during the upcoming tax season.

Jon Lashbrook bought the winning ticket at a convenience store on the south side of Indianapolis.

Wednesday's drawing happened just hours after a single mother of two from the southwestern Indiana town of Washington was introduced as the holder of one of two winning tickets from Saturday's $190.9 million Powerball jackpot.

Regina Mandabach, 29, chose the cash option and will receive $49.7 million before taxes. The other ticket for that jackpot was sold in Minnesota.

CASH Only

Perhaps a winner under 30 having to choose between 10m annuity and 5.2m cash could be swayed into the annual payments-except PB is 30 checks (tied for most of any US lottery game) if you don't choose lump sum.
