The Tennessee Education Lottery Corp. on Thursday lured another Georgian to pilot its new lottery.
Sidney Chambers was named senior vice president of sales and marketing. He formerly worked at the Georgia Lottery. At least two others have already left for Tennessee, including former Georgia Lottery director Rebecca Paul.
Tennessee also has hired Wanda Young Wilson, who will be the games executive vice president and general counsel _ a position similar to her previous job in Georgia.
Chambers has worked in lotteries for 15 years, for the last 10 years with Paul at the Georgia lottery, where he held a similar position to the one he now takes in Tennessee.
Chambers expanded Georgias retail network from about 4,500 outlets at inception to more than 7,500 this year.
Building a strong statewide retail network for ticket sales will be key to our success, Paul said. Sidney is the best when it comes to understanding the needs of our retail customers, and understanding what it takes to successfully market a consumer product. He also has critical startup experience.
Before joining the Georgia Lottery upon its creation, Chambers worked for the Wisconsin Lottery from its beginning in 1988.
Chambers, 41, is a Milwaukee native. He holds a bachelors degree in business administration from Marian College in Fond du Lac, Wis.
The Tennessee Lottery expects to begin selling tickets in February. Roughly half the money will go to prizes, a third to fund college scholarships, and the rest to administration.
