North Dakota's lottery office is taking applications from businesses that want to sell tickets.
Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says today the lottery is expecting to license about 300 businesses. The demand for a lottery license will probably be much greater.
Merchants who sell lottery tickets will get a five percent commission.
Getting a sales license takes money. It costs 50 dollars to turn in the application, 30 dollars for a records check and 20 dollars for most credit checks.
The fees are not refundable if a business doesn't get a lottery sales license.
