If you played the final night of Lotto Plus, check your ticket: One lucky person won the record $47 million jackpot, the largest single lottery prize in Lotto Plus history.
The odds of picking the winning numbers -- 8, 17, 33, 40, 41 and gold ball 13 -- were 1 in 11,069,877 on a $1 ticket with two sets of numbers. And out of the $2,172,432 in tickets sold for Saturday night's drawing, only one ticket matched all six numbers.
By late Saturday, the Washington State Lottery had not released any information about where the winning ticket was sold.
Saturday's drawing ended the lottery's 17-month experiment with Lotto Plus. Beginning with Wednesday's drawing, lottery officials are replacing the game and its gold ball with the traditional Lotto game, offering a six-number drawing that carries better odds of winning a jackpot than Lotto Plus.
Lotto players will pick six of 49 numbers to win the jackpot, lottery spokesman D. Eric Jones said last week. It's "the classic style they've known for a decade and similar to what they've known since July 1984," he said.
Lotto Plus was similar to the multistate Mega Millions game, which Washington joined in September 2002 and which has sold fewer tickets than hoped.
For Wednesday's Lotto drawing, the jackpot will revert to its base level of $1 million. The odds of winning that jackpot are 1 in 6,991,908 on a $1 ticket. Those are better odds than Lotto Plus offered, but that's still somewhat worse than 1 in 4,262,813, the odds that you'll be fatally struck by lightning in the next year, according to the National Safety Council.
