A suburban Kansas City man won $2.5 million in last Saturday's Missouri Lotto game.

John Towell, 49, of Blue Springs, stopped and bought one lottery ticket Sept. 27 on his way from the Pepsi Plant in Olathe, Kan. to the Royals game, where he was scheduled to work. A refrigeration service technician for Pepsi, Towell said in a statement that he plans to keep his job, but scale back on the hours worked.

"I'll take care of the people who took care of me," said Towell, who is married with three sons. "We plan to pay off the house, pay off bills, buy a new truck and help our sons with their cars."

Towell bought the winning ticket at a Price Chopper grocery store east of downtown. Price Chopper will receive a bonus of $25,000 for selling the winning ticket.

The winning numbers were 19, 21, 27, 32, 27 and 40.

Towell chose to take the cash option, which after taxes amounts to almost $1.1 million.
