Powerball Jackpot Grows To $42 Million

Powerball The jackpot in America's favorite lottery game keeps growing and growing. There were no Powerball jackpot winners Saturday but 369,986 players across the nation won a total of more than $2.6 million in prizes in America's Game.

Because no one correctly matched all six numbers in Saturday's drawing the jackpot will grow to an estimated $42 million.

The cash option for the Wednesday, August 6 drawing will be an estimated $21.9 million.

The numbers drawn were: 17, 40, 41, 42, 46, and the Powerball was 25. The Power Play multiplier was 3.

Four players correctly matched the 5 white numbers and won $100,000. The tickets were sold in Delaware, Iowa (2), and Pennsylvania. None of the winning players purchased the Power Play option. By spending the extra dollar those players could have multiplied their prize by 3 for a total win of $300,000.

Twenty players matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $5,000. Two of those players purchased the Power Play option, giving them a total win of $15,000.

More than 48,000 winning Powerball players multiplied their prize by 3 Saturday. They were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play option for one dollar. With Power Play you can multiply your winnings, except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night's multiplier.

Players should carefully check their tickets after every draw. Even if there are no jackpot winners there are always tens of thousands of winners at other prize levels.

Players purchased almost 15 million tickets between Thursday and Saturday night.

The lotteries sold $1.6 billion in Powerball tickets in 2002. That translates into more than $480 million for worthwhile state projects.

Powerball is now played in 24 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Can somone out there help me? My Dad is 92 and follows the numbers in powerball. He is driving me crazy to find out how many times quick picks won in the powerball in 2002? Now, here is a man who is legally blind-(macular degeneration)-he uses a magnifying glass and charts the numbers. Because I have a computer he thinks I can find out anything--this is his only past-time , but is literally driving me nuts PLEASE if there is an answer to his question , can you direct me to where to find it, Thanks!
