The odds were 1 in 660,000, but a woman in Greenwood, South Carolina, had the winning ticket.

South Carolina Education Lottery officials say the woman spent a sleepless night with the ticket worth $125,000 before she could go claim her prize.

"I held it tight to my chest," she said, according to lottery officials.

She spent the night thinking about how to spend the prize money. "She settled on paying off her husband's truck, writing checks to the kids and booking a vacation for herself," officials said in a press release.

"Now I need to take a nap," she said after she claimed the prize.

She won the last $125,000 prize in the $5 Power Shot Multiplier game, according to lotto officials.

Because the final top prize has been claimed, Power Shot Multiplier is no longer available for purchase.

The sleep-deprived woman bought the winning ticket at the G Food Mart in Greenwood, according to the press release. The store will get a $1,250 commission for selling the winning ticket, lotto officials said.

Nice story and not one about losing a lottery ticket.

Interesting to read that the game was pulled since the top prize remaining was won.  Reason this is mentioned there have been several articles about nearby states to me that habitually pull games without top prizes being won.  That and their own Lotto that is RNG are two reasons we don't play when we cross the river.

Nope, that is in South Carolina where it’s way too easy to win.

I wonder if the ticket ended up in a ball or in pieces. That clutching action can render a paper item useless. If the article mentioned glue or tape, we would know what happened. As the saying goes: All’s well that ends well.

How difficult is it to establish one spot in your dwelling for lottery tickets. You will have a history of that spot and can say, "No one has disturb my tickets in the past years. How different will it be for one night?"

Creating one spot for tickets, keys, glasses, etc.

Do not tell anyone that you have a winning ticket.

This applies to both $100,000.00 winners as well as $100 mil to 1 billion jackpots.

why not just put it in a baggie and place it under your pillow. it is hot down there and night sweat or secretions could have damaged it beyond repair. if she holds onto it while driving to claim it hope it doesn't blow out the window or if she gets involved in a road rage incident on the way and gets stabbed or shot that would be a heavy price to pay.

I was thinking the same thing. It's a good thing she wasn't the one who won a half billion in SC, otherwise she could've had the ticket imprinted on her skin.
