A Michigan woman is proud of her nephew for his honesty when he scratched off a lottery ticket worth $300,000 for her.

The woman, who chose not to identify herself, said she was visiting family when she bought a few tickets, but forgot to bring them home.

"I was down state visiting family for a couple days, and when I got back home I had a message from my nephew that I'd forgotten a couple of lottery tickets," the winner told Michigan Lottery officials. "I called him back and told him to scratch the tickets off.

"I never imagined one might be a huge winner."

Her nephew called her back with the news

"He... told me it was a $300,000 winner," she said. "Of course, I didn't believe him because our whole family is full of jokesters. He sent me a photo of the ticket, and I was floored when I saw he was telling me the truth!"

She asked him to keep the ticket for her until she can come get it. She added that she plans to reward him for his honesty.

"Winning is a bit nerve-racking, but I'm so fortunate I won because it means my family will be a little more comfortable now," she said.

Another feel good story.  What an honest young man.  Could've just kept the ticket for himself and nobody would know anything different.

Result of good parenting IMO; always do the right thing!

Congratulations to the entire extended family!

Taking care of family first then doing unto others as you would have them do to you.

I was in a gas station in Wayne county (metro Detroit) in a line waiting to pay and the clerk got my attention and asked if I dropped  "that"
so I looked down and there was $100 bill at my feet.  Without thinking I said "no" and I left it on the floor.  He asked the whole line if anybody dropped it and nobody said they did so he came over and picked it up and said "Then I believe I know who may have dropped it".

After I walked out it dawned on me that I was in metro Detroit and nobody was piggy enough to claim it as theirs.  I don't know if that would have happened everywhere but I witnessed it myself.

These family stories don't usually end well. I think 1% or a $3,000 commission is due for his honesty.

I Agree! The Kid did the right thing. That doesn't happen often in this day and age.

Good to hear that there's still some honest people in this world.

Better than reading about the Aunt that sued her nephew for putting his name on the back of the ticket for good luck.

Somehow lost $100 bill out of my wallet either @ the casino, or the nice restaurant on the premises.  Whomever found it, hope it brings you good fortune.  No sense me dwelling on it, what happens happens!
