A Michigan man's lottery strategy doesn't seem so odd anymore after winning $2 million on a Michigan Lottery instant ticket.

The 22-year-old, who chose to remain anonymous, told the Michigan Lottery he likes playing instant games, but only buys odd-numbered tickets.

His strategy paid off when he purchased a Diamond Dazzler ticket at the Busatti Party store at 12868 Eureka Road in Southgate.

"The Diamond Dazzler game is my favorite, so I asked the clerk what number the ticket was. When she said '21,' I told her I wanted it," he told the Michigan Lottery.

"I scratched it off in the store and when I saw it was a winner I looked at the clerk and then at my buddy who was with me, and ran out to my car," he said.

When he collected his prize Wednesday, he opted to take a one-time lump sum payment of about $1.3 million that he'll use to buy a car and invest.

"Winning this much money at my age gives me endless opportunities if I'm smart about how I spend it, and that's exactly what I'm going to do," he told the Michigan Lottery.

Hey if the strategy works for you....go for it.

Congratulations young man; a nice young thing will want a Diamond Dazzler on her left hand.  Be careful with your money, though I think you'll be OK...and anonymous @ that!

I Agree! with Bleudog101 and congratulate this 22-year-old anonymous winner.

I am a "jerk"  Jealous, Envious, Resentful, and a Kill Joy. LOL

At least Mega Millions is climbing into decent territory for winning.

Bleudog101, I am trying to get into an exercise regime in the mornings so I might have to wait until mid-morning to read new posts.

Another young lotto winner! I'm sure the lotto likes seeing a younger generation playing as well.

I didn't think people in their twenties even played the lottery.

I remember a store that I used to go to the store clerk got mad because I asked her what number a certain scratch-off was on. She said it doesn't matter and slows here line down when customers do that. I said fine and took my business else where.

I don't think you can even do that in Illinois. You certainly can't do it with machines and I don't know if the clerks would go for it, it's just the next ticket off the roll as far as I know.

Where I buy my tix I've asked the clerk (owner) what ticket number a ticket is. She won't sell them out of order, but if I don't like the number I don't have to buy it.

Being the recipient of good fortune either accidentally or unintentionally is simply due to one's location and/or timing. I guess he was in the right place at the right time!

With some of the News articles here on LP about clerks going through instant tickets, making pin holes to see if they are winners, etc...if you went to a lottery counter and saw unsold tickets not on a roll what would you think?

If the clerk said "Someone didn't want that one or those".....
