LITTLE RIVER, S.C. — Within a 48-hour time span a Little River, South Carolina, man realized he had won the lottery, twice.

South Carolina Lottery officials say the man realized he had a winning ticket Monday night when he checked his numbers. That ticket was worth $100,000. The next morning, he checked a separate Powerball ticket and discovered it too was worth $100,000.

The Little River resident, who was not identified by the South Carolina Lottery, purchased both tickets at the Food Lion on Highway 9 in Longs for Saturday's $447 million Powerball drawing. While he missed the jackpot by one number, the man says he and his wife are more than happy with the $200,000.

His secret? He's played the same numbers for years, and it finally paid off, despite his wife's skepticism when he first told her the good news.

"You're lying," she said.

"No, I've got five of these six numbers," the man recalls saying while showering her the Powerball ticket.

He waited until they were in the car on the way to the Lottery's Claims Center in Columbia to tell her about the second win.

"Wouldn't it be great if we know the other people that won," she said.

Not being able to hold the secret any longer, the man told his wife about win number two.

"You're looking at that winner," he said laughing. "The other ticket's on the dash."

The couple doesn't have any big plans for their $200,000 prizemoney, not yet anyway.

"I've always wanted a little boat," said the wife.

The winning Powerball numbers for June 10 were 20, 26, 32, 38, 58 and Powerball 3.

For selling the claimed tickets, Food Lion in Longs received a commission of $2,000.

Pickone4me :Take note, "within a space of 48 hrs"... I think you better add South Carolina to your list of "States that always win."

Isn't one Monday night and one Tuesday morning a 12 hour span, not 48 hours?

Do the math: Since PB is played on Wednesday & Saturday, he must have played & won on Saturday. If he checked his tickets on Monday, how many hours had passed between Saturday  & Monday ed? According to the report he bought BOTH tickets for PB on Sat, checked one on Monday & the other the following morning..Tuesday.

Your math and logic are very, very wrong, noise-gate.

The article says "Within a 48-hour time span ... realized he had won the lottery, twice" then goes on to say  "Monday night ... The next morning".

Think about it.  If you realize you've won at say 8 PM Monday night and realize a 2nd time at 8 AM Tuesday morning, how many hours have passed?  Is it 48 hours?  No.

And it doesn't matter when the drawings were.  Using your faulty logic, if he played and won on Saturday, it would be nearly 72 hours until he realized he won the 2nd time on Tuesday.

Taking the story as written, the meaning of the word realize, and the time span between Monday night and Tuesday morning, 48 hours is clearly impossible.

l apologize for not getting back to your post EdG1955- But The ONLY way  48 hours can be accounted for, as printed, is the Saturday spin and the checking of the numbers Monday morning.Perhaps there is an error in print of the time that elapsed. Then again, we could both be wrong. We dealing in minutiae at this point, are we not? Be well.

10 or 20 or 26 or 32 or 38 or 58 hours he realized he won  $100,000 + $100,000 = $200,000 PB JACKPOT $$$,$$$$  Who would ever play those kind of numbers  in a PB game "ANYWAY" but, he did on a constant basis because,      he had confidence that they were worth playing. Yes, they produced a big WIN for him although I'm with his wife on        this deal and personally think they were very big LONG SHOT NUMBER' $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
