Melrose man is second winner in World Class Millions game

MELROSE, Mass. — A Melrose, Massachusetts, man and his fiancee claimed the second $15 million grand prize in the lottery's $30 scratch ticket game on Tuesday.

Michael Milford, a 28-year-old sales manager, scratched to win the jackpot in the Massachusetts State Lottery's World Class Millions instant ticket game.

It is the largest instant scratch-and-win prize ever awarded in Massachusetts lottery history, matching the game's first $15 million prize claimed in July 2014.

Milford and his fiancee, Allison Gilgun, selected the cash option on his prize and received a one-time payment of $9,750,000, less taxes.

Milford purchased his lucky ticket Sunday at Boyles Family Market in Medford. The store will receive a $50,000 bonus for selling the $15 million winning ticket.

Milford and Gilgun, a teacher, have been planning their December wedding in the Dominican Republic for several months.

In addition to paying for their wedding, Milford said he would use some of his winnings to pay off existing bills, help family members and invest for the future.

Two $15 million prizes remain in the World Class Millions game. Twenty-two of the game's 36 $1 million instant prizes have been claimed so far.

UPDATE: This win is actually from June, 2015. Thanks to the Massachusetts Lottery for contacting us to let us know.

Congrats to this young couple.  Now, thanks to the MA lottery for providing both their first and last names and posting their photograph, they have to go into hiding for a while.  Nice move.  Any criminal elements in the Dominican Republic waiting for them to arrive?  We'll see.
