COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Education Lottery says it will honor two sets of winning numbers for Friday night's Pick 3 drawing.

During the broadcast of the lottery drawing at 6:59 p.m. on December 18, the numbers 6-2-0 were announced, and those numbers were put up on the screen. However, a short time later, the lottery's independent auditor released the numbers as 9-2-0, and those results were put on the lottery's website and distributed to the public.

The lottery now says the 6-2-0 were incorrectly announced.

"The Lottery is a transparent organization. These are our loyal players, and we honor our mistakes," the Lottery's Executive Director Paula Harper Bethea said. "Our players know our integrity, and we are going to pay both sets of numbers."

People who have the 6-2-0 tickets cannot redeem them at the place where they were purchased from; instead, they'll have to take their tickets to the Columbia Claims Center for processing and payment. People can sign the back of the ticket and complete the required information if they want to mail it in.

People who have the 9-2-0 numbers can claim them at the retailer where they purchased them.

The claims center in Columbia is located at 1309 Assembly Street.  People can mail to the following address:

SC Education Lottery
PO Box 11039
Columbia, SC 29211-1039

People must fill out and complete the following claim form: www.sceducationlottery.com/images/pdf/SCEL_Winner_Claim_Form.pdf

Players with questions or concerns can call the Lottery toll-free at 1-866-736-9819.

This can happens.. A good advice if someone has the Number 6 in your numbers just make an extra set of numbers with 9......Believe me it will pay off.

Especially in South Carolina, where they seem to make these mistakes every few months.

It finally happen. My hat is going off to Director Paula Harper Bethea for saying these are her state loyal players & they will honor their mistake. She realize just how important it is to keep these state integrity in it lottery intact. She is actually being accountable for these action. Most of the lottery we've been reading about have forgotten to do this. Most haven't step up to the plate. They shift the blame some where else. Passing the buck. So it is nice to see some one step up & say the buck stops here. Thumbs Up

So is this the basis for the "flip 6's and 9's" rule?
