New Jersey Lottery

Public Media, the New Jersey parent company of NJTV, announced today that New Jersey state lottery numbers will once again be carried on New Jersey public television.

Beginning September 6, the Lottery's daily winning numbers results will be aired at 1:58 p.m. and 8:58 p.m. seven days a week.

New Jersey state lottery drawings had previously been televised each day on NJN but ceased when the state turned over operation of the network to PMNJ.  The live Lottery drawings will continue to be held at Lottery headquarters each day at 12:57 p.m. and 7:57 p.m. and can be viewed live on the Lottery's website.

"Citizens of New Jersey were used to seeing the numbers on the air each night," said John Servidio, interim General Manager of NJTV, "We're glad to provide this service again on our network."

"We are happy that the winning numbers results will be available on public television once again. This is a great service to our players who cannot access our website." said Carole Hedinger, Executive Director of the New Jersey Lottery.

Formerly New Jersey Network (NJN), NJTV began broadcasting on July 1, 2011. NJTV is operated under an agreement with the state of New Jersey by Public Media NJ, Inc. (PMNJ), a non-profit affiliate of WNET, parent company of New York public television stations THIRTEEN and WLIW21.

NJTV broadcasts public television features each day, with a unique emphasis on the state of New Jersey. Its nightly news broadcast, NJ Today, features stories across the state with a concentration on New Jersey government and public policy, using taped stories and in-depth interviews.

NJTV also creates and broadcasts arts and culture programming and other news and public affairs programs that cover a variety of issues and communities in New Jersey.

NJTV is comprised of WNJN, WNJS, WNJB, and WNJT, which collectively broadcast throughout New Jersey.

Kudos! About the time they realized how bad that new system was.

Having that sterile drawing on ustream only was terrible. They didn't even take the time to display the winning numbers at end.  Many times I would get 6's and 9's confused because of the position of the ball you couldn't see the line that well.

I'm not sure about having the drawings an hour later, but I guess that's the price to pay to have the drawings back on TV.

It's nice that they're doing this for the people who can't otherwise see it and want to.

I like the way New Jersey goes back to broadcasting lottery numbers on TV.

Putting the numbers back on TV for everyone to see the results after they've been drawn an hour earlier is OK for the folks who can't see the drawings.

But the reality is, they can still see what came out just by checking the result page here at LP.

All they're going to be doing is broadcasting the results only...!

nats

The previous "Live Drawings" had a disclaimer as stated by the host/hostess that read something like this: Tonight's drawing is being monitored by the accounting firm of Mercadien, P.C. Certified Public Accountants. I wonder who's minding the store now??

I saw the Midday Results Today (at 13:58): It's not the same as Watching the Live Drawing!

PS: The current programming on the NJ Network is nowhere near the quality of the previous programming. Sad!
