A United States Marine from Yuma, Arizona, has won $1 million in the Arizona Lottery's $100 Million Cash Spectacular Scratchers game.
"It was an honor to award this prize to an active-duty Marine, a man committed to serving America as a member of our Armed Forces," said Jeff Hatch-Miller, executive director of the Arizona Lottery. "We were all thrilled to have the opportunity to celebrate this winner, and to know this win will positively impact his life."
According to lottery officials, the Marine, who wishes to remain anonymous, claimed his prize last week. He won the ninth of ten available $1 million top prizes that the scratcher game offers.
Lottery officials say the Marine, who is being deployed overseas within the next few months, found $10 in his pocket when he stopped at a store in Yuma. He purchased one $100 Million Cash Spectacular Scratchers ticket, which turned out to be a $1 million winner.
The ticket was purchased at Barney's, located at 2381 S. Ave. B in Yuma. He will receive the prize in a 20-year annuity, resulting in $50,000 a year before taxes.
The $100 Million Cash Spectacular Scratchers boasts more than $100 million in cash prizes, including 10 $1 million grand prizes. In total, there are more than 4.8 million prizes ranging from $10 to $1 million, including more than 391,000 prizes from $50 to $500 and more than 5,400 prizes from $1,000 to $50,000. One $1 million Cash Spectacular Scratchers grand prize ticket still remains.
