ATLANTA — A college student who purchased a winning ticket in Savannah is mapping out her future after claiming a half-million dollar Georgia Lottery prize.
Krystal Huerta-Galindo, 26, played the Georgia Lottery instant game Royal Riches and won a $500,000 top prize.
Huerta-Galindo drove from Moncks Corner, S.C., where she resides, to visit her mother, a truck driver. She purchased the ticket at Pilot Travel Center #0072, 1504 Dean Forest Road in Savannah.
She scratched the ticket in the truck with her mother.
"I didn't believe it. I handed it to my mom," she said. "She really didn't believe it either."
Working full-time in medical billing, Huerta-Galindo attends school in Charleston, S.C., working toward a paralegal diploma.
"I want to go to law school, buy a new car and set money aside," she exclaimed. "It's going to change a lot of stuff, and this will give us a fresh start."
Well, good for her; she looks deserving...and a college student, too. Now, her tuition for law school is paid for, the purchase of a new car, and money aside for a rainy day. Blessings and peace to her in 2011.
Congrats to Krystal...enjoy.
Congrats, spend it wisely..!
Education, security, good start..
Congratulations to the winner gives me hope that maybe one day I'll win as well at a young age.
Can't this young lady employ this money in a more constructive way, both for herself and society at large, than use it to become a dang lawyer.
Congratulations to this college student. I hope she pays off her bills.
I hope that Krystal will be happy!
