Florida Lottery

Includes video report

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — The mother of a murdered Florida Lottery winner is talking about her son's death.  Investigators found the body of Abraham Shakespeare last week buried near a home in Plant City.

Shakespeare won a $30 million lottery jackpot in 2006, then disappeared last April.

On Tuesday, police charged 37-year-old Dee Dee Moore as an accessory to murder in the case. Shakespeare's mother, Elizabeth Walker, doesn't understand why Moore would harm her son.

"I would like to say, 'Why?' Because if she needed money, Abraham would have given it to her," she said.

Prosecutors say Shakespeare had hired Moore to help him with his financial affairs.

His funeral is Saturday at 1:00pm in Tampa.

What an awful thing for a mother to bear.

Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men or women?

And with all of the incriminating evidence, Dee Dee is only being charged as an accessory to murder.

I think we might need an Abraham Shakespeare thread, until the killer(s) has been convicted.

There is no way she won't be charged with first degree murder

According to the Sheriff of Polk County, she has already incriminated herself

By talking about Shakespeare being shot - information that was not released to the public

I just wonder what's taking them so long to file that charge

This is so sad for Shakespeare's mother - I wonder if some of the people who were

so quick to take his money will now turn around and help his family pay for his funeral

yea, right!Disapprove

I hope she gets charged with first degree murder.  When she does, she will sing more than a fat lady (no pun intended).

I also doubt that any of his friends will be at the funeral.  They will probably feel too much shame, as they are the ones who drove him to Dee Dee with their own greed.  I just hope that before he met Dee Dee, that he had enough sense to make funeral arrangements for himself, and left enough money to take care of his children.

Money and Greed is the root of all Evil.

GREED, one of 7 deadly sins.  Large sum of money changes people. Ms Moore proably

had some of her SHADEY friends plot to get rid of Shakespeare, and thought they would

get away with it.  Lets c if MS Moore has anything else to say!

I agree and there was no reason for this, this man was giving money away  FREELY to this woman, she was just too greedy.  My condolences to his mother and his family, may he rest in peace.

corius$1918!

My prayers and sympathy go out to the mother and his family.  The love of money is the root of all evil.  Hope Police get info from DeeDee of all other connected and they all get the death penalty.  She may do a plea bargain in exchange for telling others involved and get life in prison.   The prisoners will take care of her.

From Story:

"I would like to say, 'Why?' Because if she needed money, Abraham would have given it to her," she said."

Why?  Because, if Moore is guilty, IMO she wanted everything!  That's why, nothing complicated here.

"I just wonder what's taking them so long to file that charge"

The prosecutor has the option of waiting quite a long time before increasing the charges.  My guess is they're still interviewing witnesses, putting pressure on suspects, gathering evidence, etc...  Don't forget, they must also perform forensic tests and obtain the lab results.  This can take weeks.

I believe the prosecutor charged her with the lessor charge because they were afraid she would run to Brazil or some other country with no extradition treaty.  They were afraid she was a flight risk, such as Roman Polanski who ran to France and lived there for 30 years.  Moore probably had a current Passport and the sheriff probably verified that.  Remember that Moore is allegedly a con-artist and allegedly has millions, his millions!  By charging Moore now, they can keep her in jail so she cannot flee.

If enough evidence can be found implicating her in the murder, I believe she should/must be charged with Murder 1 and should/must be given the death penalty.  If you look over the last 40 years, women have usually not been given the death penalty whereas in the same case, had the convicted been a man, a man would've been given the ultimate penalty.  Usually what happens is, a woman will give us the sobs Crying and tears Sad in the courtroom, everyone feels sorry for her (awwwww) Shocked , and they let her off with a 10 year served sentence.  This case, if Moore is guilty, screams for her to get the death penalty and nothing less. wow wow and wow,

I suspected foul play in the begining. Dee Dee moore im sure was partially responsible if not responsible for shakespears death. It seems to me that she already had money if she owned her own biz. Maybe it was going down. One thing that i know for sure is that it all boils down to greed. she was a greedy B@##$$. You know greed never gets anyone anywhere. But look at where it got her. I am outraged, that people would not let this man live his life. she is lower than low and her boyfriend knew darn well that he had a body on his property. How could they sleep at night. The poor mother, May God Bless you. and Abraham rest in peace, they found  your killers or the ones responsible for your death and now you can rest in peace.

Money and Greed is the root of all Evil.

I've always thought that, myself...but now, like in my signature, I no longer believe it's the *money* itself, but what's in the heart of who aquires it (or wants to aquire it), and only amplifies who we already are.  I've never been one to point the finger at tv shows or music, to be an excuse for why people commit heinous crimes, either. There is no excuse for something like happened to this man. A gun doesn't shoot people, PEOPLE shoot people.

There are actually a few people with money, that don't have this "evil seed" waiting to be planted in their mind. Thank God I don't have that "seed". Money would never be evil for me. No matter how much money I won, or anyone around me won, it would NEVER drive me to murder. I have a feeling that Abraham Shakespeare was a really good man, and I think it takes a special kind of person to be giving, and not to let money go to your head. Unfortunately, it's all too easy to fall victim to all of the GREED of others around you! There sure is a lot of it going around anymore. Unhappy

My heart goes out to his mother....
