The jackpot for Friday night's Mega Millions drawing climbed to $207 million after no players matched all six numbers in Tuesday night's game.
Even though there were no jackpot winners, 14 lucky players managed to match the first five numbers for a $250,000 second-prize win. 3 of those tickets were sold in California, 1 in Georgia, 2 in Illinois, 1 in Maryland, 1 in Massachusetts, 2 in New Jersey, 1 in New York, 1 in Texas, and 2 in Virginia.
The California second-prize winners will receive $140,420 each because California pays out with a pari-mutuel prize structure that divides the available prize money at each level by the number of winners.
The Mega Millions winning numbers Tuesday were 4, 5, 26, 37 and 56, with a Mega Ball number of 25.
The Texas Megaplier number was 4.
"Large jackpots are very exciting for Georgians," Georgia Lottery Corp. president and CEO Margaret DeFrancisco said before Tuesday night's $170 million drawing. "Jackpots of this size provide entertainment for players and an opportunity to raise additional dollars for the educational programs we fund."
The jackpot for the multi-state lottery has been growing since July 7, when a player from New York won $133 million.
Mega Millions is played in California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Texas, Virginia, and Washington state.
This time is gonna be mine. No more Ohio or georgians. This is NY time now and I believe I will hit the jackpot for good
