The New York Giants are now in the lottery business.

Monday the team announced a partnership with the Connecticut Lottery Corporation to launch a Giants-branded scratch-off ticket game later this month.

License agreements between lotteries and NFL teams became possible after a vote by league owners at their May meetings. It's just one of the new ways NFL owners have found to enhance their bottom line in these tough financial times.

The new lottery game is also expected to add $1 million in additional revenue to Connecticut's General Fund.

"Connecticut is Giants territory," said Anne M. Noble, CT Lottery President and CEO, "and we are very excited to kick off our fall season of sales with a blockbuster partner like the New York Giants. Brand recognition for the Giants is tremendous, and we expect the game to be a sellout success."

The Giants also debuted the Timex Performance Center corporate logo on their practice jerseys, something the owners voted on in March.

"The Giants are proud to partner with the CT Lottery and bring an exciting, new Giants-branded lottery game to Giants fans across The Constitution State," said Giants Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Mike Stevens. "The Giants view Connecticut as an important part of our home tri-state market, and we appreciate the devoted and loyal support we receive from Giants fans throughout the state."

This announcement, made jointly by the New York Giants and the Connecticut Lottery Corporation, "happens at an exciting time," said Noble. "The partnership is expected to attract a new audience of game players to add to the Lottery's regular customer base."

The game, which will launch Aug. 26, will yield $4 million in cash prizes, including four top prizes of $50,000.  Non-winning tickets can be turned in for a series of second-chance drawings to win prizes such as game tickets and VIP access at training camp as well as gear and apparel.
