Count the Titans among the NFL teams partnering with state lotteries.

The Titans and the Tennessee Lottery will announce their partnership today. The deal gives lottery players an opportunity to win prizes including season tickets, cash up to $100,000 and team memorabilia.

The NFL began allowing its teams to partner with state lotteries in May.

The Titans logo will be featured on the instant scratch-off tickets. The blue and red instant ticket, which features 15 Titan helmets, offers a chance to win cash prizes of up to $100,000 instantly.

A series of second-chance drawings to be held in the fall will offer the chance to win:

  • Titans club season tickets for 20 years (tickets for two people).
  • Season tickets to the 2010 season (four sets of two).
  • Four club seats to the Nov. 29 game against the Arizona Cardinals, the Dec. 13 game against the St. Louis Rams and the Dec. 25 game against the San Diego Chargers.
  • Footballs autographed by the entire Titans team.
  • Replica jersey autographed by team members.
  • Titans merchandise prize packs.

The NFL has always had a strict no-gambling policy, but in the spring, team owners voted to allow teams to sign licensing deals with state lotteries.

"This would purely be scratch-off and chance games. They are not in any way connected to the outcome of our games," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in May. "We do think it is responsive to the pressures that states are feeling right now to help meet some of those budget shortfalls. What we can do with the states and our clubs is to try to create some additional revenue. It ... is something that is a reasonable policy."

Titans and the lottery officials declined to disclose how much money the team will receive.

"What a great way to tie together the excitement surrounding the beginning of football season and the school year," said Rebecca Hargrove, president and CEO of the Tennessee Lottery. "Titans fans and lottery fans will have fun while raising valuable dollars for education, which creates a winning combination for everyone."

The organizations started discussing a partnership not long after the NFL vote. The Titans said they saw an opportunity to reinforce the team's state image.

"We're thrilled to be part of raising funds for educational programs in Tennessee," said Don MacLachlan, executive vice president of administration and facilities for the Titans. "Helping schools and children has always been a vital part of the Titans organization and we're looking forward to this exciting partnership."
