South Carolina Lottery

A winning lottery ticket worth $800,000 sold in Belton, South Carolina, expires this Wednesday, and the lottery has not heard from the ticket's owner.

The MegaMatch 6 ticket was bought about six months ago at a KMO store in Belton. The winning numbers in the Jan. 2 drawing were 4, 7, 17, 18, 25 and 28.

Winning tickets must be claimed in person by the end of the business day within 180 days of the draw date printed on the ticket. Claims are made at one of three lottery claims centers, located in Columbia, Greenville and Mt. Pleasant.

The $800,000 winner expires at end of business July 1, which is next Wednesday, the lottery said in a news release.

If not claimed, the money will go into an "Unclaimed Prizes Fund," which is used by the General Assembly to supplement public educational expenses.

Thanks to truesee for the tip.

Hopefully someone claims it before it expires. That is a lot of money to miss out on.

There probably will one or two players who think they may have misplaced or lost it and try to make a claim.  That use to work but lately I haven't heard of anyone being successful making a claim that way.

How can you not know you won? I always check my tickets twice before I throw them away.

I hope someone claims the jackpot.
