Euro Millions

One lucky lottery ticket from Spain matched 5 lotto numbers plus the two Lucky Stars in Friday's Euro Millions drawing to win a massive jackpot of €126 million (US$170 million).

The huge prize was the result of six successive drawings without a winner in the multi-country European lottery game.

The winning ticket, worth €126,231,764 (US$170,198,287), was sold in a central Madrid lottery sales office.

As one would expect, the winner has not yet been revealed.  Government lottery offices normally recommend that lottery winners take some time to get their financial arrangements in order prior to redeeming their winning ticket.

However, the winner should always immediately sign the back of their ticket since lottery tickets are bearer instruments, with the prize being paid to the holder of the ticket.

Previous Euro Millions winners include two French citizens and a Portuguese national who shared €183.5 million (US$246 million) in Feb. 2006, and Irish resident Dolores McNamara who collected €115 million (US$154 million) in July 2005.

The winning numbers in Friday's Euro Millions drawing were 4, 23, 24, 29, and 31, with Lucky Stars 8 and 9.

The Euro Millions jackpot for next Friday, May 15, will be reset to its starting point of €15 Million (US$20.1 Million).

I think you read it wrong.  It says "a central Madrid lottery sales office".  In other words, a lottery sales office that is located in the center part of the city of Madrid.

"Wrong" about it being Tax Free Money! If you are an American Citizen you will pay taxes to the IRS! No more hiding money in any Swiss Bank account for any American! The Swiss Government/banking system are now cooperating with the IRS and turning in the vast amount of Americans with accounts in their banks! Besides most of the European Union Countries are cooperating with the IRS in reporting the Americans with bank accounts within the European Union!

You're right about this!  Of course, with Papa Obama's multi-trillion dollar SPENDING budget, no American will be able to hide one red cent from the BIG hands our government will be holding out over the next 4 years.  Oh well....I didn't vote him in nor any of the liberal spending Democrats.

Yes, I believe this is true.  Taxation is the soft tyranny that has encroached on practically every point on the planet.

I wasn't asking if Americans were taxed on this lottery, since we know that our government taxes us on everything.I was asking if the winner or other European winners were taxed on their winnings.

WOW only one winning jackpot ticket -- super exciting and congratulations (hope winning ticket holder quickly puts some of their family and/or friends on the claim form for a lesser percentage share)!!!

Is this jackpot amount mentioned annutized (if yes how many annual payouts?) or immediate lump-sum cash?
