The Oregon Lottery yesterday held the state's first-ever raffle, the appropriately-named St. Patrick's Day Raffle, resulting in one new millionaire and over one thousand other prize winners.

A complete list of winning numbers for the drawing can be found at Lottery Post's Oregon Lottery Results page (www.lotterypost.com/results/or).

The game has a total of 1,011 cash prizes, with a top prize of $1 million cash.

Raffle tickets went on sale Jan. 25, 2009, and cost $10 each.  The complete inventory of 250,000 tickets was sold out prior to the drawing.

All $100 prizes can be paid at any Lottery retail location, but the $20,000 prizes and the $1 million grand prize must be collected at the Lottery office at 500 Airport Road SE in Salem during regular business hours or by mail (registered mail recommended).

Winners have one year from March 17, 2009 to claim their prize.

Lottery officials were a bit lucky that Shamus O'Shaughnessy, a leprechaun from Los Angeles, was available to participate in the festivities, which drew many lottery employees to the lobby and live television coverage on Fox 12 Oregon.

O'Shaughnessy, whose real name is Kevin, said he canceled a couple of engagements to be in Salem and was rushing back to Los Angeles for other St. Patrick's Day appearances.

"It's a busy day," he said. "Everybody wants a leprechaun. I'm a popular guy."

The limited number of tickets available gave players better odds than traditional lottery games such as Megabucks and Powerball. And unlike those games, the raffle guaranteed there would be winners.

Lottery officials announced that another raffle would be staged this fall, although no further details were available.
